Unlike the others, Cov haven't announced any signings in the last few months, and it all seems to be one-way traffic (outwards) atm, so I'm not sure why they're included in that list?

I admire your optimism. However, with those other sides apparently spending shedloads to likely go nowhere, I don't expect Cov to bother (apart from further consolidation). They've made it very clear that they are cutting back on senior pros (while remaining almost fully professional, but with curtailed onsite player-attendance during the week). Maybe next term...

The Pirates have retained the majority of last season's squad, but with slightly reduced numbers. We were very competitive (if a little inconsistent) and gave Ealing a shock early in the season. Just before lockdown we seem to have hit some good form, so we were optimistic of a strong finish. It seems that Ealing have recruited strongly so I expect them to be even stronger than they have been - and they've been pretty good! Donny seem to be strengthening their squad, as are Jersey. As has been the case for many years we still wait for news on the Stadium For Cornwall and until the build actually starts we will be happy to continue as we are. We have a settled squad of very talented players and we'll be a handful - especially at The Mennaye.

With the signings Jersey have made I would say that they are looking strong for another good run. I will be happy if Donny can climb to the top half and look like top 4 contenders but we shall have to wait and see.

As a Mond fan I expect us to do better than our previous foray into this division. This time we know what to expect and it is a tribute to the ethos of the club that we managed to do so well in Nat 1 in spite of losing so many players to retirement and full time professional clubs. As Will Warden said in a recent interview it was the pace of the game in the Championship which took them by surprise. No surprises now.

I think Blues will be challenging at the bottom too. It's a balance for chairmen though and if the rumours are true we are waiting and letting those go that want to. I don't see the point with Sarries down though for the spending by Ealing & Jersey really. |

I agree I understand completely why Blues are waiting it out, there could yet be financially challenged teams across the Prem and the Championship. We have been through many struggles before and prospered. It’s a shame to see good players leave GR but they have limited careers do they have to do what’s best.

I heard Rayer as quoted that the Championship clubs still do not know what they are getting from the RFU.
Blues have about 12 good players signed up already and with our crowd etc. We will be fine. Also the big thing is financially we have turned a profit for the last 3 or 4 years, which is a sustainable model. Surviving is the most important thing. The best thing Ealing can do is actually have a 2 year plan and contracts and not shed 1/2 the 1st team squad each season. If they adopted more of a 2 year plan rather than the seemingly 1 year one they could well have been promoted a season or two ago.

A little unfair, per my post from a couple of weeks back if you exclude the players that have left because of better offers that Ealing would have wanted to keep, the turnover is around 25%. I'm also sure a lot of the recent signings were arranged before the extent of the lockdown became truly apparent.

Ealing signs Fraser Strachan C from Northampton. I understand he spent time on loan at Bedford. Any impressions? Sorry, got beat to this one.

He always performed well for us, a strong runner. Mind you so was Howard Packman, for some reason he didn’t make it in the Ealing mix.
