Oh I'm sure you know what happened to them - but that doesn't alter the fact that there are four Saturdays in a month 😉

Not at all doubting whether this is true but wondering if you have a source for this? Can’t seem to find anything online referencing it? If so that would rather change things with selling the ground/land although 25% of something is better than 100% of nothing I suppose! With regards to the Saturday priority my understanding is that this is only a requirement by the FA and that the RFU do not require this, I believe there are numerous examples of where a rugby club play at a football stadium and do not get priority. Brentford FC is one that springs to mind?

At the moment, it is not even 100% of nothing. As there is the cost of keeping the current structure safe. I do not know how that will compare to the cost of maintaining a new stadium. But that will be shared with the AFC, who are presumably also selling their ground. I am sure, there have been a lot of discussions as to how to split the money raised and how to share the costs.

Darlington FC don't own their current ground - they play at Blackwell Meadows, owned by Darlington RFC. However, they have been looking to relocate since 2022, so presumably they have a source of funds from somewhere.

The money paid out to football clubs even outside the top 4 leagues is a decent amount unlike rugby who get nothing outside the top 2 leagues and we need to be grateful for it
