David Moffett, ex-NZ CEO & ex-Wales CEO writes open letter to RFU:

An open letter to the RFU!!

Dear Rugby Football Union,

I, David Moffett, am writing to offer you an unprecedented opportunity to turn around the fortunes of English rugby.

In light of the recent financial reports and the controversy surrounding executive compensation, I propose a solution that will not only save you money but also bring proven leadership to your organization.

I offer my services to fix the problems at the RFU for a mere GBP 375,000 per year for two years, with no bonuses. This represents a significant saving compared to the current CEO's compensation package, effectively giving you a 3 for 1 deal on executive leadership.

My track record speaks for itself. As the former CEO of the Welsh Rugby Union, I transformed a GBP 3.7 million loss into a GBP 3.6 million profit in just 12 months. I also reduced the debt from Circa 72 million to circa 47million.

I've successfully led major rugby organisations across the globe, including NSW Rugby, Sanzar, New Zealand Rugby Union and the Australian National Rugby League.

What the RFU needs now is not extravagant bonuses, but the grit and courage of a Yorkshireman combined with the no-nonsense approach of an Australian.

I would put my resume up against Bill Sweeney's any day of the week.

Under my leadership, you can expect:
Fiscal responsibility and transparency
Strategic restructuring to eliminate unnecessary costs
Innovative revenue generation strategies
A renewed focus on grassroots rugby development

It's time for a change at the RFU. Let's work together to restore English rugby to its rightful place at the top of the world stage, both on and off the field.

I look forward to discussing this proposal further at your earliest convenience.

Yours in rugby,

David Moffett

I'm fuzzy on the details but he seems to have very positive memories of his WRU time.

He wanted to put 1/4 of the WRU's "regions" money into North Wales.

Find the place in England with the least interest in rugby and the fewest people and put a new team there. Nuts.

I think it's genuine. Take a peek on Linkedin. Could anyone do a worse/less effective job than Sweeney?
