I know there’s some helpful and knowledgeable people on here so I thought I would ask!
I’m off to watch Nottingham play Jersey this weekend. It’s the first time I’ve done this trip and I’m excited as I’ve always wanted to!
I know there’s been other threads on this but I won’t be going into any pubs etc as I’m on my own (husband is working unfortunately)
I’m trying to decide which hotel to stay in. I’ve had a look at the offer on Jersey’s website for the Pomme D’Or and it looks very good, but I also looked at the Premier Inn which husband reckons I should go for. I know the PI is a bit less luxurious but I genuinely can’t make my mind up. I generally like to stay in chain hotels when I’m away but I’m just wondering if I should try something a bit different- and how easy is it to get from the airport into St Helier Centre?
Second, I’ve had a good look at the bus services etc and wondered are they easy to navigate to get to the ground;
Thirdly, where do the players tend to eat after the game- is it in the Clubhouse?
Thanks in advance. I fly in from Gatwick tomorrow evening and I can’t wait!

Hang on maire23, hopefully Islander Travel Service will be along shortly! 😊
But, whatever you decide to choose, you will be sure of a fantastic time. Enjoy! 👍

I have  stayed at Pomme D'or many times
I believe Jersey  Rugby have a special deal with them
Islander will be able to enlighten you I suspect
Pomme is by the waterfront it  is a bit old fashioned but upmarket and has character
The Royal yacht club  1 minute away more lively tends to be for the younger generation
The Radisson  5 minutes  more modern but tends to be for families
Number 15 bus outside airport about 30 minutes to St Helier
Jersey great place to visit

I can recommend The Savoy. 8-10 minutes walk from ‘downtown’ St Helier but away from the very busy harbour side. Not quite the London Savoy, but a very comfortable (and affordable) 4*.
Speak softly, but carry a big stick.

Most of the hotels are in St Helier & there’s a good service to the rugby club via bus routes 9/15/22 - see Liberty Bus website for details. The players should be in the clubhouse after the game altho’ sometimes they eat first in the adjacent marquee. Hope journey over goes ok M23… Thumbs Up

Any of the St Helier hotels are good options but you might also consider the Somerville in St Aubin which has great bus access to the ground & airport and survived the recent Ravers invasion admirably. It has magnificent views, good inexpensive restaurant and the small harbour is a real delight. Mrs C & I eat there regularly as its a short walk from home. Best advice is buy a multi-day bus pass from the driver on the bus at the airport.
There are buses from the airport (which is about 500 metres from the ground) to St Helier every ten minutes or so and it takes about 25-30 minutes. The drivers accept contactless cards.

M23 safe travels. The island is currently getting battered, so I hope that this does not hamper your journey or spoil your enjoyment of the island. On the plus side, conditions are set to vastly improve in time for the game tomorrow.

Thanks Brizzer! Have just arrived, 2.5 hours late. The team were not so lucky… their flight was cancelled completely. They are flying in tomorrow morning. That said once the flight got going it was fine. :)

Brilliant the gale seems to have moved East and certainly in the South West things are calming down. The Notts players will get here tomorrow and the sun will shine so game on. M23 I assume you got in on the Brum flight & hopefully you have found your base camp.
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

I think you've handed that gale off to us here near Liège.
The van, as they say, is rockin'.

The storm seems to have abated, so hopefully Nottingham will not have any further issues getting in to the island.
I have to say that the past 24 hours really have been pretty wild, even for Jersey standards.
Roll on gentle breezes and sunshine tomorrow for the game.

Hi CC, I did indeed. I got a taxi to my hotel and after some food had a good rest.
I’m raring to go today and looking forward to a good game. The Notts players flight is currently boarding at East Midlands so hopefully not too long before they get here.

Yes; have been a bit anxious regarding the visitors' travel (through circumstances 100% out of anyone's control). Not official yet but looks likely to be a delay to KO, potentially half an hour...

Archers on the starting blocks at EMA. Rumours that Dan Richardson being left behind due to weight restrictions wholly unfounded. Safe journey lads.

Landed 13.19 brilliant effort Blue Islands

Their flight has now landed I believe.
Phew!
I’m on the bus to the ground now. I didn’t realise how warm it is! I think I’m a tad overdressed for the weather 😂

Try and make yourself known after the game M23, or get someone to show you the office (corner of clubhouse upstairs) - am usually in there writing reports etc until an hour-ish after FT. Tom Thumbs Up
