OK - I can only tell you what I know having visited there a couple of weeks back as a committee member of Newport and was well and truly wined and dined - someone from Stour could doubtless tell you more!
1) Welcome, hospitality, food, banter absolutely 1st class so nothings changed there 2) They have had a right royal bust-up with the junior club Stourbridge Lions although I believe this is all but resolved 3) Said they were finding the quality of the rugby in the South/West/Midlands far superior to that which they have experienced in the North 4) They have lost players undoubtedly - mostly backs and two 10's both with broken legs so won't be back any time soon. Backline, certainly against us appeared quite flimsy for sure 5) There is a contradiction between their style of play and AGP - Why would you pick a front row, all weighing in at 20 stone+ to play on a fast track? Great if you can dominate territorially and play from 10 metres out but we were able to hold them in the scrum and their line out was a bit of a mess Hope that helps but I'm sure a club of Stours quality will bounce back and steer clear of any danger of relegation but I think we can safely say its "not going to be Stour's year"

On the rumour mill, Stourbridge are adjusting how they operate as club and due to the current economic situations, probably thinking and planning for the future. I would assume then, that some influential players (backs maybe) have gone to earn their beer money elsewhere. Some even 2 leagues below?

Nat 2 South last year was a great league and I'm not seeing West being any different, a couple of new sides finding their feet, but on the whole a very testing league with some really strong sides in it.

It always seemed N2S was stronger overall than N2N - possibly why Stourbridge are struggling? |

There is a reasonable chance DK will swap places with Stourbridge, so if the players moved to avoid the long trips to Devon and Cornwall.....

It's 250 miles from Stourbridge to Redruth, and 243 miles to Tynedale, so not a lot in it, and Blaydon would be similar, and a lot further than the 150 miles to Exeter, for example.
Also the other clubs from the former 2N are doing about as expected, so I don't think the 'stronger league' argument is valid, either. The problem is probably an internal Stour issue, and there can be few clubs (any?) who have never had a glitch or two.

Can only see this one.........................
A disappointing result but you can see how affected the players, coaches and club management are. No one wants to see us in this situation and I am sure everyone is doing everything they can to turn the situation around. Unfortunately too many keyboard warriors and opinionated people seem to think they know better. I’m sure your highly skilled rugby knowledge will be of use to the team. Feel free to volunteer your services rather than just criticise.

It's all been removed now.
Someone was very unhappy over recent performances and the general shape of the club currently. Suggesting a potential shake up in management etc. Further suggesting maybe the decline was deliberate to save on travel, increased gates from local matches etc. That was met with very frosty replies by the club refusing to debate and essentially trying to silence him by saying he knows nothing and how committed everyone is. It was back and forth where he likened them to North Korea...

No attempt to silence but sometimes keyboard warriors need to be held to account over their comments. It’s too easy a platform to make ridiculous claims and remark when you don’t know the facts. Also derogatory comments against individuals who give plenty of voluntary time to the club through thick and thin. He can of course have his say, but do not do that and expect not to be challenged
