Predictions:
Bedford 4 v 1 Coventry - close game this one. London Scottish 2 v 5 Nottingham - no idea really. high scoring I think. Jersey 0 v 5 Ealing - Jersey not as consistent this year and not as strong at home. Hartpury 1 v 5 Newcastle - too much quality for Falcons but Hartpury will make them work hard. Cornish Pirates 5 v 0 Doncaster - I'm afraid Donny are mediocre. Pirates by 25. Leeds 1 v 5 Ampthill - still no win for Leeds. Edited by Donnyfan - 05 Feb 2020 at 13:58 |

Bedford 4 -1 Coventry - Blues on the up. It helps when you have players playing in-position. London Scottish 1-4 Nottingham - I expect this to come down to a last minute penalty kick. Again. Jersey 1-5 Ealing - Sad that I can't make it to this game, but Ealing's form post-Christmas has been very impressive. I still think they'll leak 4 tries, but pile up the points. Hartpury 0-4 Newcastle - Hartpury becoming a tough nut to crack at home; they'll want to prove themselves after a thrashing last weekend. Not enough to get over the line, but I think they hold the score close. Cornish Pirates 5-0 Doncaster Knights - Pirates to refocus after losing a close one. No Olver magic to save the day this week. Leeds 0-5 Ampthill - Some would say this is one of Leeds best chances of the year to pick up a win. I would say that that was true only if a zombie apocalypse breaks out and leads to the demise of the entire Ampthill team before the weekend. No points for Leeds.

Bedford 5-2 Coventry - Bedford are finding their feet whilst Coventry struggle away.
London Scottish 1-4 Nottingham - the away side to scrape it. Jersey 1-4 Ealing - A right battle. Might be close. Hartpury 0-5 Newcastle - And the Falcons just roll on. Cornish Pirates 5-0 - Could be a long trip and a long afternoon for Donny. Yorkshire Carnegie 0-5 Ampthill - I think Ampthill adapt more to The Championship with every game. |

Surprised with the referee choice for Blues game. I guess he’s deemed to be impartial (I know all referees are but) as a former Blues player who was mentored by Nick Walshe.

Karl Dickson left Bedford in 2009 - surely there has to be a 'statute of limitations' that deems him capable of handling one of their games 11 years later?!

His brother was only there last season as well. He was coached by both current coaches of each team. Sean Davey a former Premiership referee played for the Blues, but could never referee Blues other than a lot of home friendlies, which he said he always enjoyed. I am just surprised, there are a lot of referees available, why put him in this position where he could be questioned by both teams on the decisions he makes. I'm sure he would be impartial both ways but in my opinion an odd decision. |

What a great choice! He's an emerging international referee who went to Coventry Uni and the Blues Academy/1st XV! It will increase his experience. With over 120 years of close rivalry the game is a long running derby (forgetting Northampton Saints) it's 17 years since Coventry won a league victory at Bedford and promises to be a hum-dinger. More recent precedences; Last December Karl was TMO for Harlequins vs Gloucester! Similarly, Pontypool born Luke Pearce played for Wales U16 exiles before refereeing the 2018 Wales v Springboks match and the 2019 Wales v Georgia world cup match. Good luck to all! Bedford 4-1 Coventry ... If Blues play like they did last week, then it should be a good, entertaining game and I will go for a tight home win as Cov aren't the best away from home at the moment.
London Scottish 5-2 Nottingham ... Another good game in store. LS will try to dominate through the forwards and Nottingham will try to move it wide. This will be the only Scottish victory of the day. Jersey 1-5 Ealing ... The forecast looks pretty good at the moment for a running game. Jersey are ravaged by injuries in the backs, so I will have to favour the visitors for this one. IF....IF Jersey manage to secure good ball and keep 15 players on the pitch and don't get any more injuries, then I could see a final 20 minute winning surge, but lots of if's. Hartpury 0-4 Newcastle ... Hartpury to keep this really tight, but Newcastle to grind out comfortable win. Cornish Pirates 4-1 Doncaster Knights ... Oh dear Lord!! have you seen the weather forecast for this one. If it goes ahead I don't see the ball moving through the hands very often. One for the purists and the ducks I think....please stay safe one and all. Yorkshire Carnegie 0-5 Ampthill ... I can't see anything but a comfortable away win. |

Bedford 1 - 4 Coventry - heart ruling the head on this one despite Cov’s poor recent away form.
London Scottish 5 - Nottingham 2 - home form should see the Exiles to a win. Jersey 1 - 5 Ealing - Ealing to continue their recent good winning form. Hartpury 0 - 5 Newcastle- Falcons to step into the unknown and different playing arena for another win. Cornish Pirates 5 - 0 Doncaster - Pirates to bounce back from last week’s surprising defeat. Yorkshire Carnegie 0 - 5 Ampthill - could be another Polynesian knees-up in the MK45 area on Sunday after another Championship win. Enjoy your rugby this weekend everyone. |
