No doubt that the 2 penalty tries were correctly awarded. I don't think the booing was aimed at the kicker - a reflection of the farce of the previous 5 minutes when the ref was trying to establish whether there was a fit Moseley prop available to take the field Edited by Moseley Mauler - 22 Dec 2019 at 17:47 |

You could be correct, it was a bit of a bizarre final 10 minutes all round.

Look at the Youtube clip, at 8.41 the sound disappears, been there all the way through the clip, then comes back and booing is clearly audible.
It may have been at the Ref. but the Rams kicker was about to strike to ball. To a degree I can understand the frustration of the B&M supporters. At 24 - 12 and again at 27 - 19 they should have closed out the game. My view is that the Rams bench is stronger than most other teams benches. The intensity stays high and the last 10 minutes prove to be where Rams can turn games around. I doubt B&M will go down this season as Canterbury and Hull are I believe doomed. Rotherham will struggle to make up the points difference. For what it's worth I enjoyed my visit and the hospitality shown by the B&M supporters.

Agree - pretty sure that the booing was directed towards the referee not the kicker..... and pretty much quiet at kicking time. Might have been an isolated one or two, but overwhelmingly the home crowd recognised the usual etiquette. I think the older amongst us (myself included) had temporary amnesia about the 'rules' for a penalty try (as in...…..for many years it was 'would' as opposed to 'probably') but on reflection the referee was correct. Very frustrating as we should really have managed a 2 score lead in the last 5 minutes.

The booing was definitely aimed at the kicker and it was more than one or two, hence a number of the fans attempting to shush them - frankly it made me ashamed to be a Moseley supporter. I think the sound being cut out may be due to profanity on the recording, but Martin (Camera Shake) would know as he does a very good job of producing highlights packages for our Men's and Women's teams.
Unfortunately this seems to be the latest in a fairly long line of our fan base becoming more like the round ball lot this season - threatening to go and watch another team, calling for the DoR to be sacked after every loss, leaving before full time et cetera - looking at our Social Media after a game now feels like watching [Gooners] Fan TV or similar (team name is censored by the board). An enforced break for surgery means I will potentially miss the next two months' worth of games and yesterday made that feel not as bad as it did leading into the weekend.

Please see my tongue in cheek comments about the strength of the BM beer on the promotion and relegation thread ...... semisonic has a valid point about Social Media being damaging

Whilst quite happy to stick with etiquette during a penalty attempt, I've never really understood why it needs to be quiet...........I can't believe that the kicker would be put off and in fact would probably have less pressure on him if there was noise as opposed to deathly silence. I've always enjoyed the atmosphere in French rugby where supporters of the side who have just conceded let off steam/practice their cat calls.

Absolutely correct. There is a clear, noticeable profanity on the sound track that I decided should be removed. Can't get away with anything can you!!

Agree.
Anything goes during a lineout when the hearing the call correctly is paramount. Admitttedly, there aren't points directly on the line. But a throwing hooker must be under almost as much pressure to perform as a kicker. I seem to remember a clip of Owen Farrell winding up an opposition 6N crowd as though to say, "Bring it on, it doesn't make any difference to me." (Personally though, I will stick with the status quo for the time being.) With reference to Rams kicker(s), they did have a shocker the previous week at home to Albion, so the Mose mob may have smelt blood...
