Predictions:
Jersey 1 v 4 Cornish Pirates - Jersey don't seem at their best this season. never an easy game on the Island but I think Pirates will repeat their cup win of last season. Doncaster 5 v 2 Nottingham - always a really good contest between two decent sides. hopefully more of the same on Saturday. loads of points on the carpet. Bedford 4 v 1 Hartpury - a Blues resurgence perhaps?. don't thing this will be easy but Bedford should do enough. Coventry 4 v 1 London Scottish - this could be any points score!. depends on which version of Scottish turns up at the BPA on Saturday. Coventry are pretty good at home. Ealing 5 v 0 Ampthill - Ampthill have been on a great run but I think Ealing on their fast track will win by a decent margin. Leeds 0 v 5 Newcastle - this could be any score. if Falcons are on one of their really clinical days this could be a total Wipeout. only thing that would keep the score slightly less humiliating for Leeds is if Falcons rotated heavily. |

Predictions:
Jersey 4 v 1 Cornish Pirates - The islanders have been up and down this season(more up than down), while the Pirates have looked pretty consistently good, but I still think that the Reds squeeze out a win at home. Doncaster 1 v 4 Nottingham - Nottingham were tenacious in defeat this weekend, and I think that they come out hard against a Doncaster team that left it all on the field against Newcastle. Bedford 4 v 1 Hartpury - Something in my gut says that the Blues are due to put things together. Also, I think that Peter Lydon will be a big help on loan. Coventry 4 v 1 London Scottish - Both teams taking very tough losses in the previous round, so I'll go with homefield advantage. Ealing 5 v 0 Ampthill - Ampthill a different team at home. Unfortunately for them, they're on the road. Weather will have a lot to say about this, but if last weekend is an indication that Reon Joseph has woken up, then I could see a big score. Leeds 0 v 5 Newcastle - Honestly, I'm curious if I can get odds on Newcastle getting into triple figures.

Jersey 1 v Cornish Pirates 5
Jersey not firing and despite home advantage, Pirates to take it. 20-27 Doncaster 1 v. 4 Nottingham Close one this. Notts to win by a single score. Bedford 1 v 5 Hartpury Blues are likely not quite back to where they need to be just yet, despite a great win at LS Coventry 5 v 0 London Scottish Fully expect a Cov backlash after their failure to close out against Amps. Ealing 5 v 2 Ampthill Ealing to score 2 more tries than Amps, who need to demonstrate their credentials away from home Yorkshire Carnegie 0 v. 5 Newcastle Unless the cavalry arrive in numbers this week, this could get silly |

Predictions:
Jersey 4 v 1 Cornish Pirates - Could get messy, just squeaking out a home win Doncaster 4 v 1 Nottingham - always enjoy this match, giving this to the home side but only just Bedford 2 v 4 Hartpury - a close game with Hartpury just taking the win Coventry 4 v 1 London Scottish - could be a good tussle on the day Ealing 5 v 1 Ampthill - Ealing to win but Ampts to make them work Leeds 0 v 5 Newcastle - can there be any other option?

Jersey 4-1 Pirates Usually
a close encounter which could go either way and if the weather is kind 5-2
either way or 3-3 distinctly possible. |

Jersey 4 v 1 Cornish Pirates - Game of the week for me this week. Going to be very close and if Jersey can stop butchering opportunities, then they may sneak it. Pirates looking back to their best. Let's hope that the weather doesn't spoil the game.
Doncaster 4 v 1 Nottingham - A derby game and very difficult to choose. Will go for a home win, but all depends on which Knights side turns up. Bedford 4 v 1 Hartpury - Another tight game. Hartpury defence looking strong, but Blues had a good result at the RAG over the weekend, so maybe the tide has turned for them?... we shall see. Hard fought home win. Coventry 4 v 1 LS - Cov will be hurting after losing to Ampthill, as will LS following their good win before Christmas in Jersey. Massive battle up front to ensue, but will stick with the home side on the plastic. Ealing 5 v 0 Ampthill - Ealing will prove to be too strong for Ampthill, but the visitors will give it a really good go. Lots of points, but too many scored by the hosts. Leeds 0 v 5 Newcastle - I am really worried about this fixture....really worried. If the Falcons turn out their 1st XV I fear that it could get dangerous for the students and lower division players drafted in by YC. They will be up against Premier League / International quality players who will not give any quarter. A massive win for Newcastle, but please no nasty injuries for the hosts. I am an Ampthill supporter living in exile in North Yorkshire and this is my first post on this forum, so watch me make a right mess of this week's predictions.
Jersey 4-1 Cornish Pirates - 2 very solid and equal clubs. It will be close and I think home advantage is the key. Doncaster 1-4 Nottingham - Close to a local derby and I think the away side are showing the better consistency. Bedford 4-0 Hartpury - Bedford are in a false position but I think it will be a low scoring affair. Coventry 5-0 London Scottish - Coventry are strong at home and will be smarting after last week's defeat. Ealing 5-2 Ampthill - It breaks my heart to forecast a home win but I also think it will be high scoring and close. Yorkshire Carnegie 0-5 Newcastle - If Newcastle field their first fifteen this could be a point a minute win. |

Listen, you may well be right. If I predict an away win, it is most likely the home side will waltz it. It's like when I play darts. The safest place to stand is next to the dart board.

I'm just excited to see an Ampthill fan on the boards. This is Hartpury Barbarian's 3rd year in the league, and I'm pretty sure I've yet to see a self-avowed Hartpury fan grace the boards.

Ok , been a follower of these pages for a long time and love to see the comments , rarely get involved, but just to make Cherub feel welcome, here goes:
Jersey 4 - 1 Cornish Pirates - think home advantage will just carry the day for Reds Doncaster 4 - 1 Nottingham- again home advantage could be the key for two evenly matched sides Bedford 4 - 1 Hartpury - think(and hope)Blues will get the lift after their win at the RAG last week against Scottish Coventry 5 - 1 London Scottish - hope the Cov players have been reminded that sticking to the game plan almost always is the key. Expect a reaction after their ‘Park life’ setback. Ealing TF 5 - 0 Ampthill - sorry Amps , suspect Ealing will be too quick, strong and have the greater desire to win this. Yorkshire Carnegie 0 - 5 Newcastle Falcons - like Phil, wish Phil well , but think Falcons will truly get their ‘fill’ and will carry on their serenely surge back to the Premiership. Good luck everyone and enjoy your rugby this weekend.

The day after I posted my first ever predictions, the forum went down. Is it something I said?
I have also checked my first predictions against the actual results. The only thing I got right was that I am useless at this. I nearly got the Ampthill v Ealing outcome correct though. I said it would be high scoring. Then I shot myself in the foot and added "and close." But one last point. Provided we can stay up, I wonder how many people at Ampthill ten years ago thought that Ampthill v Saracens would be a league fixture in 2020/21. |

I feel exactly the same about that fixture. The first season Ealing Trailfinders came into the Championship we went straight back down. Ampthill have done exceptionally well in their first season and could have, should have won the fixture on your home turf. I wonder how many of the top stars will stay with Saracens and feature next season. I have been told they have approached one or two of the Ealing players to join them !. They will have to ship some players ( salary cost a couple of Million ) to get under the threshold requirements for their return to the premiership.

I think with the forum being down, we also missed the fact that Wayne Barnes reffed the Blues vs Hartpury game. The improvement in quality of officiating was very noticeable! Different class to the usual champ refs.

He did an Ealing v. Rosslyn Park pre-season friendly as well just before the World Cup. I can only imagine the dissonance of moving between those two levels and venues.
