There was an extended report on todays opening games in the Championship on this mornings BBC Breakfast. They had a brief interview with the Jersey head coach. They showed the woodland walk to the pitch at Ampthill with another brief interview with their head coach. It was pivoted around Saracens , the two time European Champions but encouraging that they recognised the existence of the the second teir of rugby.
They did state that no teams had played any games until today !.It was stated that the Saracens supporters had donated to the fund raising with a £ 1,000 towards Ampthills efforts.

A good piece by the BBC. Nice to get some airtime for the game below the Premiership.

Having endured 'news' regarding a dysfunctional family from west London, it eventually came on at about 9.40 or so. And, it was reasonable by Beeb standards (of anything below the top level of most sports). It almost made me nostalgic for Ampthill's fairy dell tbh. Seriously though, Lavery came over well, as did Biljohn (sic), but, as expected, the whole thing was slanted towards a 'European Champions vs Plucky Upstarts' kinda scene. Will it ever change? With the RFU in charge? Course not. The biggest shame is that they couldn't even manage to overlay a list of today's games, together with a url to the TicketCo site for those whose curiosity may have been piqued. Typical though, sadly.

Nothing unusual there. BBC only ever acknowledge to coverage if they are doing it - get a pre-match on any Premier football or rugby match and under coverage it will tell you if it's on BBC radio but not that it is on BT or Sky sports. Obviously, BBC think other coverage is irrelevant. |

'Harvery Biljohn' was a truly lamentable spelling effort by the captioner. But yes I thought it was an otherwise quite decent piece...

Getting them to acknowledge any sport they are not covering is a feat. They are certainly not going to tell you how to watch it.

Which was kinda my point about the omnipotent Beeb. We still pay our taxes to them though.

And I don't expect BT Sport to tell you where to get radio commentary. Your point is?

As BBC website is the place most people look for sporting content it would be good for them to acknowledge where people can watch the game. As for BT Sport telling you where to get radio commentary, their website is so poor these days that it is often difficult to find out what they are showing on their own sports channels. |

Will they follow up with the fantastic achievement (upset) by Pirates? Great article in the Guardian, As the shipwrecked Saracens now understand, English rugby’s world does not begin and end in the Premiership.
