If the ex Lions convince Bill Beaumont to ditch subs, then a lot of players are going to be looking for a game, this might just be Tigers getting their plans in order early.

Its as plain as day follows night
Follow the steps Saracens back in Prem box ticked Eailing to follow this year Trap door pulled up for 2 years Champ runs at 12 sides, no A league games (save of cost) for Prem sides and RFU Prem sides buddy up with Champ sides, giving their players the playing chance for more games than they would have got in the A league RFU saves money as no funding of A league and reduced Champ funding, but this is picked up by CVC money to Prem sides. Thats rugby at this level for next 2/3 years at least! Exeter will jump into Cornish P Wasps as Ive stated will be with Cov. Leaves Jersey and Mond If they stand their ground. Remember it was not too long ago their buddy up went very very wrong, so Id not be suprised if Mond say no interest and fair play to them if they do! Sale win National 1 as Sharks throw everything behind them this season and that sorts that out The only box not ticked is Yorkshire! Edited by Scrumtime - 18 Aug 2021 at 13:22 |

Not entirely sure why they keep referring to it as unique in the press article considering it’s clearly a copycat (or copytiger) of the Blues Saints relationship…

Pretty fair summing up. Exeter have "jumped into Cornish Pirates" for years. Many years ago, before Exeter were promoted, the Cornish Academy was taken from CP and given to Exeter. They get all the top young Cornish players through their link with Truro College. To be fair CP benefit from some very good dual registered players from Exeter. Most of us are resigned to this, and it won't change unless and until the very long awaited Stadium For Cornwall comes to fruition.

It seems that it took a pandemic for the RFU to get their way . . effectively the Champ to be the A league . . . so there will be teams in the Championship but NOT clubs, other than Doncaster, Jersey, Richmond and Ealing.

This seems a very limited definition of what a “club is”. I’m sure others can give examples for their clubs but as far as Bedford goes:
1) The majority of the Blues squad will be their own players not Saints loanees. 2) The club had an community section which engages with the community of Bedfordshire with outreach projects. 3) The club now has a charity arm called the Blues Foundation does fantastic work including supplying meals during the pandemic and tackling digital poverty. 4) The club has a very active Junior Blues section. 5) The club has just started a women’s team. 6) The club raised ~£100,000 from supporters to get through the Covid restrictions of last season. 7) We get average crowds of ~2,500. 8) The club is a social gathering place for many Bedfordians. Why doesn’t this meet the definition of a club? |

9) The shareholders are the people of the town and further afield, probably no rugby other club can boast as many people who own it than the Blues! 10) We are now pretty much self sufficient and not reliant on a single individual to chuck money at it

IMO clubs are looking at the cheapest way to get through this season an£ with no relegation it makes it an easy decision to fill up with loans and DRs
