What is interesting is the third paragraph of the torygraph article that mentions a mooted playoff between the bottom placed Premiership side and the top place Championship side, that's a new one!

Mentioned when the league fixtures came out 2-3 weeks ago. (Subject to the significant 'criteria' asterisk * of course...)

The significant point as I understand it is:
"A two-leg play-off for promotion to the Premiership will then take place on the weekends of 31 May-2 June and 7-9 June between the top placed team in the Championship (provided it meets the minimum standards criteria) and the last placed team in the Premiership."
I understand that Donny are the only club in the Championship which presently meets the minimum standards criteria so ho'way Donny do your best lads.

I fully expect those MSCs to 'change' at some point in the forthcoming season.

You may well be right Sg

The fact that Donny passed the criteria in early '23 doesn't mean they would pass again 12 months later...
The fact that Ealing didn't pass the criteria in early '23 doesn't mean they wouldn't pass again 12 months later...
The fact that no other Champ clubs applied in early '23 doesn't mean they wouldn't apply 12 months later...

The bit I like and should bode well for the game as a spectacle, the league games do not clash with England games, so the first team really will be just that for a change.

So if I understand this correctly the entitled group who control this stuff might change the MSC to suit their commercial purposes and if they decide that the side finishing first in the Championship offer a better commercial option the MSC might be changed so that they would qualify for the playoffs. Sounds a bit odd to me but I'm sure it will all be done fairly and above board. It might be easier to understand if instead of the side finishing first going into the playoffs the entitled group might just nominate the side they want regardless of where they end up in the league.  In the meantime Ho'way Donny.

The MSc might change, yes... and other clubs who didn't pass, or didn't apply, might seek to improve their facilities in a bid to pass next time. Theoretically I guess Donny's facilities might deteriorate so they'd no longer pass, but that seems far less likely.

I can reassure you that we maintain our facilities very well, so no fear of deterioration. Wink
Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny!
