Didn't realise there was a thread.
Cheshire 21 Lancashire 54. Cheshire soundly beaten. Went 5-0 down in the first minute, but then had some good pressure for the next 10-15 mins including three or four kicks to the corner, the net result was 0 points. Lancashire came out of the traps in the second half and put the game to bed with a few quick tries. A red for each side - Gavin Woods (Lymm) and David Fairbrother (Fylde) - seemed to even things up a bit, but Lancashire had enough on the board to see out Cheshire's late fightback.

Good win for Cornwall 28-19, can't see a figure but looked like huge crowd at Redruth...

Cheshire certainly going to be suffering from the lack of Caldy players this year who have been the main contributors over the last few years

A lot of counties are suffering from the loss of players at NCA cubs. Even players at the lower XVs are now disqualified - even if that team plays at level 8.

Should that be the case across all counties?
Cornwall v Somerset was certainly littered with Nat 1 and Nat 2 players yesterday (Cinderford, Redruth, Exeter Uni, Hornets, TJs, Old Reds and Camborne now also of course).

“Littered with Nat1 players” a slight exaggeration; I’m only aware of Cornwall scrum half Mike Austin (Cinderford) from Nat1.

As far as I'm aware teams in the Bill Beaumont can still use National League players. It's just the fact that Caldys promotion to the championship now excludes them

It may only be division 2, I know Easter Counties are not permitted National League players. And as an internal rule, all EC players had to play in the inter county matches between Cambs, Norfolk and Suffolk.

I think it may be level 4 also as several Blackheath players turned out for Kent this year and didn’t last year

No Bishops Stortford players in the Herts team. Almost all the team were from level 4,5, and 6.
Most haven't played for over a month. No wonder they got hammered.

Division 1 is level 3 and below only. Division 2 and 3 are level 5 and below. But what matters is what level the club is at, so even if you are never anywhere near the 1st team squad you can't play if the 1st team are at too high a level.
And Camquin is right, in Eastern Counties our policy is that you have to play in our internal county championship to be eligible for selection for the BB Cup.

If you read the message again properly, you'll appreciate that both sides were indeed littered with Nat 1 AND Nat 2 players . I haven't got an issue with it a all but it should be consistent across the counties to make for a good competitive competition.
