Did anyone hear this news?
Players told to 'sit it out' under new concussion guidance https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-65397908

Seems players with concussion will need 21 days away from the game.
With professional teams likely to see concussions within the team every two/three games.

The older I get, the more the RFU leave me confused.

I doubt this will apply to professional players, they already have their own protocols

The three week rule has been in force in club rugby for a number of years.

It will be interesting to see how this is adopted. The Government says "grassroots clubs". The RFU defines that as the Community Game which, for the last 4 years, has been National 1 downwards.

National 1 Clubs all have physios and are required to have a doctor present on match days. Players then follow the Return-to-Play protocols, referred to in the Government guidance, but this usually takes less than 21 days, often players returning after missing just one match.

We take concussion seriously but will need clarification over which takes precedence - medical assessment or Government recommendation?

Any law changes brought in by the RFU can only have effect on grassroots rugby = community rugby = National 1 down, because the RFU has no control over Elite rugby = Premiership & Championship rugby. The RFU cannot introduce any law changes into Elite rugby. This can only be done by World Rugby.

I think this has been in place for years.
The news is to apply the rule in other sports.

The Government advice is based upon that given by experts.

They could do with passing it down the nhs

The number of arguments physios have with parents of juniors as little jonny/Josephine has had a concussion, gone to a&e and had a Dr say "don't play for a week" and parent believes that should trump rtp protocols

I hadn't realised the Government's experts will be reviewing every single incident like the medical assessors Halliford mentioned.

Good news that they will all be in agreement then isn't it?
