Evening,

I have heard that Darlington MP have gone into administration.

Does anyone know if this is the case? There seems to be very little information online about this. Hopefully just rumours.

No that is not the case from what was said today. It’s not my place to put on a public forum. I’m sure that they will put something out but meetings only happened on Wednesday so still pretty raw

From what I gather it’s something with the ground?

I didn’t get any details other than they have plans in place for the rest of the season. Perhaps to get best information talk to the club otherwise you are going to get possibly duff information

I heard a similar rumour on Tuesday from someone who normally knows what they are talking about. I hope in this instance they are wrong.
Broken down. Beyond repair.

DMP have not gone into administration. There was an EGM on Wednesday where the clubs problems were explained. The club will fulfil its remaining fixtures and then regroup for Nat 2 next season!

That’s great news and very reassuring! Thank you!

Will the arena still be home? Would make sense to move away but not sure where else could accommodate?

The Arena will still be used next season. One massive problem we have is expenses for away games....most require overnight stays, some 2 nights. Plymouth costs, I've been told, but not from the horses mouth, between £8,000 and £10,000. We would love to see Nat 1 go north and south as this is the only way to sustains a decent standard of Rugby in the North East. Newcastle are haemorrhaging players and with a £40million debt.....things in the North East are looking bleak! But as usual the RFU just bury their overpaid heads in the sand!

Every year the same story reappears about the Football Club coming back to the arena and a ground share happening.

Obviously it wouldn’t be ideal but I’m not sure why that hasn’t come about as would surely bring in a good chunk of cash when the ground would otherwise be empty.

From a purely personal point of view hope the football does not come back because of traffic etc.
Regardless the Arena would need a lot of money spending to be able to reopen the three sides which are currently closed.

I think I’ve heard every rumour going about the Arena.

The sporting village etc proposed seems to be completely dead in the water. There was always talk of making the ground smaller and using it for the football but even demolishing a couple of sides would cost hundreds of thousands no doubt for little real benefit.

I wish the club well in their re build, this is sadly not the first nor will it be the last, there is just little spare money floating around.
