Budgies

Jersey is thought to have landed a REALLY HUGE new sponsorship agreement with an undisclosed local swimwear company thought to be worth as much as ten pounds for every match. As part of the deal Jersey are understood to be considering a name change to Jersey Budgie Smugglers and are requesting RFU approval to allow their players to wear the sponsor’s cut-down product outside of their usual rugby shorts, use flippers instead of boots and for wingers to wear short capes with the sponsor’s logo. Other clubs are understood to be appealing against the initiative to the RFU on the grounds that the vast injection of funds are not compliant with the financial fair play rules which require new sources of funds to be only  directed to premiership clubs.
