So looking on web sites we have the following - the numbers are a simple count of those listed. I have not double checked they are up to date with all signings departures. It does not count academy players. Club Senior Squad Preseason matches -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ampthill 48 players Bedford 36 players Cambridge Cornish Pirates 39 players Redruth/Cambourne Coventry 40 players Leinster, Blackheath, Moseley , Cambridge Doncaster 30 players Rams Ealing 26 players Stortford Rosslyn Park Hartpury 43 players Worcester Cinderford Jersey 22 players Old Elthamians Scarlets London Scottish 29 players Edinburgh Newcastle 47 players Nottingham 37 players Leeds 0 players Edited by Camquin - 07 Jul 2019 at 16:57 |

Doncaster have 32 in the squad, the two you couldn't count because they don't appear on the website yet are Will Holling and Sam Pocklington both players have signed pro terms from the academy

I suspect that you have used the players page on the Bedford Blues website. These are last season's players. So far I believe a figure of 25 would be nearer the mark for the coming season.

The Jersey Reds' squad stands at 23 retained players + 11 confirmed new signings; see full list when the most recent signing was announced a few weeks ago - LINK There may be one or two more to add. The player profiles haven't yet been added because the volunteer responsible has had some off-season down-time and hasn't got to them yet - they will be added before the end of July.

London Scottish squad size is currently 32, with pre-season friendlies against Cardiff Blues, Chinnor and Edinburgh in that order.

This says nothing about how ready the clubs are for next season. All it shows is different approaches to web sites.

I know but one would hope that any club with half a claim ot being semi-professional would keep their web site vaguely up to date.

Nottingham website is seldom updated much before the season starts.
To be honest I would rather we allocated resources to getting the team ready to compete in our predominantly professional league over updating the website for folk like me who check it everyday just in case... |

IMO a good up to date web site is essential. Any prospective sponsor is likely to look at this as an extension of advertising of their business, if it isn't kept up to date then people stop looking at it. Sadly many clubs fail to even get the basics, results updated on a weekly basis. |

Blues have announced 26 but 1 player did not turn up and will not be doing so. We have a few on trial at the moment which are likely to be given contracts.

If you are a small sponsor you don't really care, it is more like giving money to charity, as it is the done thing in the town (certainly Bedford anyway). If you are a major sponsor you will be in the know before the fans are.

Still think any sponsor would like to see they are backing an well organised club - websites not up to date don't get looked at and are an indicator of how well they are organised |

Coventry seem to have added a fixture against Leicester Lions - how many pre-season fixtures can you play.

It'll be a fairly low-rent Cov side I expect.
As will those following (but with more firsts in the mix), with a higher percentage again vs Cambridge. |

The match v Cambridge is the highlight of the season isn't it. Rowland and the boys cannot lose against the old club. And we are going to be up for it. |
