Whilst my heart calls out for a Jersey v Donny final at Castle Park with as much pie as I can eat my head predicts that it is unlikely that Jersey can recover from their epic celebrations and Pirates will edge a tight match on Friday night by a handful of points and at home on Saturday on a fast track in West London Ealing will prevail by at least 10-15 points. All the best everyone - its been a great season with the Siam Cup to look forward to on Saturday.

Pirates have a bit of an injury crisis - two 10s both out so the lad who will play there hasn't played there at all. We competed well in both games against Jersey, but they were simply too powerful when the subs came on in the second half. I'm not confident, but I know the Pirates will throw the kitchen sink at it and The Mennaye will be noisy!
Not that much in it in the league games. It was 24-35 at The Mennaye and 21-10 in Jersey. So it's not impossible. Hope you're right corporal and the Jersey boys might be a bit hung over! They certainly deserve their celebrations, it's been great season for them. Should be a Premiership team next season, the fact that they're not absolutely stinks.

Pirates Team News

Good luck to both teams - hoping for a fast high scoring game so that whoever wins has a chance of a home game in the final.

So, here we are down to the final four.
Ealing v Donny…. Ealing have to be huge favs, especially following last week’s sizable win in Doncaster. However, Donny didn’t have anything to play for then, but they do this week, so don’t be surprised if Donny take it deep into the game. My gut feel is a 45-30 home win.
Pirates v Jersey…. The Reds will have it all to do in Pirate country. A large, partisan crowd, a long journey and having to pick themselves up again following the highs of last weekend. Forget the league, this is the cup and Pirates will be right up for this. Expect them to go hard at Jersey from the start. Should Jersey weather the storm, then they ‘may’ begin to get a strangle hold on the game and if they can get a couple of scores up going into the final 10, then they could pick Pirates off as they go for it.
Finally, it is great to see Scott VB back in the Jersey side having missed the last 4 months through injury.
Both games should be cracking to watch.
Go well guys!

Ealing vs. Donny - I'll go Ealing again after their win away last weekend. They are running out an...interesting side, but overall a bit stronger than the one from last weekend.
Pirates vs. Jersey - Depends on selection, but Jersey were extremely tough this year, and I think they'll pull through.

Ealing Trailfinders team to face Doncaster Knights: Interesting to see Lancaster at 10 again. Perhaps one of the more experienced 10s for Ealing won't return? Willis is injured, but Shingler is on the bench. Also interesting to see Uzokwe at 8 over Digby. Congrats to Luke Daniels for his hundredth cap. I think that there are at least 3 centurions in the side (Walker and Will Davis).

15. Cian Kelleher

14. Luke Daniels (100th Ealing Trailfinders appearance)

13. Max Bodilly

12. Reuben Bird-Tulloch

19-35, not entirely sure how long to go as long stoppage but less than 10 would think.

Cracking game at the packed Mennaye where The Pirates threw everything at Jersey but it wasn't quite enough in the end. The massive Jersey pack were a real handful and had us under pressure at scrum time, but we stayed in the game with some amazing maul defence and terrier like tacking. Pirates scored a couple of brilliant tries and even managed a rolling maul try against the much heavier Jersey pack.
The game swung on a couple of turnovers - one where an attempted grubber kick hit a Jersey player and he raced away for a try, then later a mis-placed pass in midfield which again the Jersey man pounced on and was away for another 7 pointer. But that's what top teams do I guess, you make a small error and they make you pay. Jersey are a very good side; very big, very athletic and with a lot of skill and pace in the backs. There was a nasty looking injury to a Jersey man and the game was stopped for a long time while the medics attended to him. Hope he's OK and makes a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks for your kind words Stalwart about Tom Everard (annoyingly and lazily described as 'the Jersey player' throughout the 16-minute stoppage by Radio Dreckly commentator John Martin, who I thought was better than that)... we lost 2 second rows today but hopefully may still have 3 who will be available for the final.

Pirates made us sweat tonight and yes there were some key moments. Reds spurned a lot of chances altho' several of those were down to good home defence, especially from several mauls and one of the best tackles I've seen this season (11 Relton on 15 Owen, 1st half)

Pouring rain at Vallis Way just before kickoff. Crowd small as would be expected on coronation day.

Ealing 7 (1T) - Doncaster 0 - 8'. Beautiful chip through by Lancaster, gathered by Bird Tulloch to score. The pitch is slicker than snot.

Ealing 10 (1T) - Doncaster 0 - 26' - After failing to convert 3 rolling mauls, Ealing takes the points. Very sloppy in the rain. Has let up a bit.

Ealing 17 (2T) - Doncaster 0 - 31'' Another well weighted chip by Dan Lan, gathered by Jonah Holmes to score under the posts after breaking two tackles.

Ealing 24 (3T) - Doncaster 0 - 35' - Bird-Tulloch makes 3 men miss to manufacture a try from nothing from the 10m line.
