It's been sometime since I posted on here. Are there any truths to the rumours that I heard today.
That Darlington Mowden Park have found themselves in financial difficulties, yet again and that Blaydon have stopped payments/expenses to players and that 9 have left the Club, seeking playing positions at other nearby Clubs.

Certainly not what I was told about DMP when they visited Well Hall.
We are getting to a stage on here that it is becoming like Social media and people are adding their spin to some gossip and rumour then declaring it as fact.
Anyone with any inkling of how much it takes to run a rugby club will know how tough it was going to be this season and possibly for another couple until cash flow starts to even out. The maintenance and utility bills didn’t go away because of the pandemic but the income did.

The arena must come with some hefty bills.

It is correct that Blaydon no longer pay players, only expenses as per RFU guidelines.  Like a lot of clubs we cannot afford a wage bill which would cripple our club,  so we have cut our cloth and
will no doubt find our level, and hopefully we will still be around in the future as a rugby club from our foundation in 1888.

I am not young enough to know everything.

Hi, I did not post this as facts I posted it to clarify and see if there was any truth in these rumours, if they were they could affect the leagues, and that was my only concern. I am fully conversant with what it takes to run a rugby club with over 50 years experience.

Spoke to someone i know, playing in the same league. Seems it's being discussed around these clubs also - about both DMP & Blaydon.

Mowden is no longer a member's club. Everything is owned by Businessman Ged Quinn, not the members  https://www.mowdenpark.com/news/ged-quinn-to-become-owner-of-darlington-mowden-park-2557798.html

As to what has happened to the £6 million they got for their old ground back in 2012, who knows.

Getting to the bottom of the financial dealings there is not easy. Are they in financial difficulty..I suppose that depends on how benevolent Mt Quinn is feeling.

Exactly how it should be. The club is a great asset to the members and the community

Not strictly true nowadays BRB, circumstances have changed since that posting on the clubs website, DMP's balance sheet has improved greatly and things have moved on with a proposed development, DMP is still owned by the members, and is 100% supported by Mr Quin who is helping to set it on a sound business and financial footing, and to assist in the completion of the future development of the Arena.

Agree 100% BRB, whilst rivalry on the field is fierce (as it should be) Blaydon is a good rugby club where I always enjoyed visiting and back in the day playing against.
