I read today that Jonah Holmes from Ealing is being picked for the Barbarians vs. Saints match on the 26th. I thought that was quite interesting given that it is a rest weekend in the Championship, but followed the next week with a massive clash against Pirates. I don't want to see a player held back from picking up various honors, but I would worry that the October Player of the Month could pick up an injury in an ultimately meaningless game.

Also, I'm curious about whether Ealing makes any money off of this? The Northhampton vs. Barbarians match is nothing but a revenue generation exercise, and the BaaBaas only have access to Jonah because he is being paid his salary by Ealing. As a commercial manager, this pops into my mind immediately.

Brilliant for JH and well-deserved recognition for a cracking player. Every player wants that honor on their playing cv and it still rankles with me that when a couple of Jersey players got the call for a Barbarian match in Edinburgh to celebrate a big anniversary of Heriots that they were withdrawn by the club. I went to Edinburgh for the game and got both lads Barbarian ties and programs with their names listed but it was a poor second best. Ealing should take great pride in this selection.
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

Phil Chesters our prolific try scoring winger played for the Barbarians and I believed he scored. I was proud of his achievement and I know the club were.
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.
