The Inside Man wrote @ Medway v Chi
The scoreline flattered the home team who scored 2 very late tries to make it look respectable. The Blues stuck at the job, which was tricky against a far superior pack. Medway looked good and will be there or there abouts come end of season. The Medway left wing was pure class and will trouble more than a  few opponents this season.

I've been surprised by Farnham - they knocked us out of the cup two years ago, and they were really impressive.  They were top of 2SW when the merry-go-round stopped, and eight of their team on Saturday were in the line-up at ODP, so not sure why they've struggled to adjust to this level.

Hardly surprising given the loss of virtually all their first XV squad with the few left said to be 'reluctantly leaving as they didn't want to drop to 2nd XV level'

Sorry I missed the humour - unable to decipher the symbols in my defence.

As for the Heath being 9th in the table, at least there is consistency as OEs still feature in the N1 table - not sure why they are part way up though with 0 points when all the teams below have more??

I don't think a 50 plus scoreline was likely Mark as there was clear intent and a lack of panic in your team despite your absentees. Camberley were missing their two battering rams from the backs who caused us a deal of trouble when we did ship 50 plus points! As you pointed out this is a big team but you fronted up to them physically which is a key factor. Just read the latest Medway report which gives little away except they seem to have a complete team and with the lowest points conceded we will do well to replicate the result from our last encounter at Oaklands which ended in a draw. Still, we will see what the team sheet looks like and hope that the M25 proves to be the "extra man" for us! Enjoy your week off and perhaps pop down to Oaklands to check out the game, let me know and I will get you a beer!

That's a fair assessment - before the red card I was worried that we might be looking at another 52-0 scoreline!  Camberley completely dominated the opening 30 minutes - they look a lot bigger than our boys, they were pinching our lineout at will (not helped by the tallest player in our pack being the loosehead), and their offloading was amazing.  The red card totally changed the game, but they still had opportunities to win it.  They stopped contesting our lineout in the second half, and we scored twice from catch-and-drives, and it felt that in the final quarter their discipline started to cost them, with countless penalties including the penalty try.  Overall, no doubt that we were incredibly lucky and probably should have lost to a team that played with 14 men for 50 minutes.

And the squirrel was indeed frightening!

Mark was right to be "twitchy" as Camberley dominated till the red card deprived them of their 8. That combined with a limping winger till he was subbed meant that LW could capitilalise on the extra space and lighter scrum. It still remained a tight contest and had Smarty not chosen touch and gone for points then it may have been a different result, but the Camberley lineout is a thing of beauty so I applaud the ambition. Great crowd and certainly a fizz in the air, but did anyone else spot the Camberley Yeti? I think it was supposed to be a squirrel but it was huge, so it couldn't have been Chris Packham inside. It disappeared around the time of the red card so I was hoping to see it join the scrum later in the proceedings, but sadly not.

Next week brings on Medway for us who look in sparkling form and with a rock solid defence, may need full safe-breakers kit for this one....Dickon has Camberley, could be a bit of a backlash there, weather looks cool and dry so fingers crossed we can have the best of both worlds for the forwards 'n backs.

Wishing all a good week.

The large lady may start the first verse next week....its early but Camberley v LW is the headline act. I don't think you can read too much into the Chi defeat, Camberleys defence was too good and their attack through the backs was better than our defence. Smarty is a good 10 and his kicking added to the repertoire. But we lacked our usual physicality, so this area may be a deciding factor. Whatever it is I will be there to bear witness so please bring the choir!

Have to say I'm slightly twitchy about our trip to Camberley. I still don't know much about all of the teams, but their win over Chichester was the standout result of the season so far.  And don't forget that the following week it's Chichester v Medway, then Welsh have a week off to prepare for Medway coming to ODP.  Usually by Christmas you have a clear top two or three clubs fighting for promotion, but I wouldn't be surprised if the top sides all take points off one another and we end up with maybe five or six (Guildford? Ironsides?) battling it out.

Bit Cheeky Tony! LC have made no secret of the changes they have had to introduce this season and their aspirations. Me? Well we are pleased to occupy this lofty position but as you alluded we have some stern tests (like yourselves) awaiting. Medway will show the mettle of this new squad, last season it was a full blooded draw and  if the weather is with us we could better that result with a slice of luck. Our physicality will not suffer from the week off and it will allow players some well deserved R and R for the tests ahead. It is unfortunate that we will "miss" a game for the excitement and bar takings foregone but this remains very much a trial period for the season. At least the pitches are now more forgiving.

Best, Vuarnet

Weather certainly made an impact this week-end and it was the teams who made the fewest errors who came away with the spoils. It was certainly "green over the funnels" with horizontal rain on gusting winds for those that could stand it. Next week will see the bragging rights tested with Camberley v LW and Medway v Guildford so it may present a glimpse of the order of merit going forwards....still there is many a slip twixt cup and lip, more fun to come!
