I did not know that TJOS - the players and  the committee would probably like promotion but I have yet to meet any fans that would Unhappy having said that there would be no doubt that Barum or any other team would take promotion if they gained it
You are right about promoted teams not staying up long as the current N2S table shows! We managed to stay up for a couple of seasons but that was only because of the London Welsh thing.
Barum managed to stay afloat financially after that but lots of teams dont. Unless you have a large catchment area and/or are willing to spend big money it is very difficult to stay up.

What about teams in a league above who may have suffered a whole season of being bashed and destroyed on the pitch and are struggling with the travelling costs and other financial commitments of staying there and really NEED to drop down to recover and lick their wounds?

If they demand to come down or face potential financial oblivion if they're forced to stay up because a team declines to come up, what then?

If the winners decline promotion, the runners-up are promoted. If they decline too the third-placed team go up, and so on. Eventually someone will be “ambitious” enough to go up.

At least, that’s how it used to be although I can’t think of a single case where promotion has actually been declined.

This weekend I'll plump for Brixham, although it may well be a very close game.

As for the pros & cons of promotion. With the ongoing saga of potential league reorganisation who knows what the leagues will look like in September.

Exmouth - Home advantage I'd say.

could be am interesting scenario at Exmouth this weekend!! from the league regulations?

4.3 Where a ground is pronounced unfit or is unavailable for play and the scheduled match is

the first of the two games in the season between the Clubs the venue (shall where time

allows and provided the reverse venue is not being utilised for another match in the

Leagues) be reversed if the opposition’s pitch is fit and available for play. The Admin Office

must be advised prior to kick off. The home Club shall be the Club upon whose pitch the

game is played.

4.4 Where a match is postponed due to weather at the same venue for a second time the SW

Committee may order the game to be played on the third attempt at a different ground.to be

agreed or specified by the SW Committee. This may be at neutral venue or at the

opposition’s ground.

I think this would be keenly contested by Exmouth as the first game was cancelled because Brixham refused to play when the home side and the ref were happy for the game to go ahead.

Brixham made no secret of the fact that they had turned up with a must weakened side.

Obviously going for an Exmouth win.

Thanks as ever FP.

Looks like Exmouth v Brixham went to uncontested scrums quite early yesterday? Presume that meant Brix had to play with 14 men, in which case it’s a very impressive victory.
