The issue you have is that the championship haven’t finished this season and will not have released players or recruited any for next season so there is probably a lot of players unsure what is going to happen next year which probably adds to the inactivity in Nat 1. Players who joined for last season haven’t played yet so the likely hood is if you were happy with your signings for last year and they have agreed to stay this year probably won’t be much movement

I was rather expecting to see DMP mounting a challenge before now.
Unless the pandemic has truly caused a severe hiatus in the ambitions of the other clubs, then the old sporting adage of 'standing still is going backwards' could well be self-fulfilling here.
Still, there's plenty of time, so maybe not all is lost yet.

Come on Kimbo...... a little to early in the process to be trying to get bites from us? I am sure there are new signings on the horizon however all about a good solid core and backbone.

Any news from your end? Or are you content in picking at others currently CryWink

We're actually doing rugby stuff and planning ground improvements, so not much.
Hey, don't worry, I'm only playing Wink

I am not worried my friend lol.

Would argue 'doing rugby stuff' should include getting a squad together for next year however WinkLOL

I'd be exceptionally surprised if they weren't tbh.
Although with only 10 teams in the league it probably doesn't need to be quite so deep!
Ridiculous situation when you're trying to run a pro club, let's face it.

Completely agree - impossible to plan or develop a competitive squad. RFU is so focused on ringfencing the premiership its beyond belief -

even if you just look at the front row requirements - it seems every Prem team need 12 props in a squad excluding academy as seemingly a modern day prop cant switch from tight to loose or vise versa. Regardless that at the start of the game the ref calls all front rows - hooker, tighthead or loosehead. In the case of injury you should be able to cover.

It seems the RFU and Premiership are trying to make Champ and bellow, amateur level at best and dare I say it even all leagues to be local level only

Just for my mate Kimbo

A couple of re-signings at DMP

https://www.mowdenpark.com/news/mackenzie-resigns-for-202122-2613285.html Great to see Cal sign heart of a lion hard as nails and a all round great club man

https://www.mowdenpark.com/news/mowden-resign-fisher-2612705.html Dave Fisher has also re-signed for next year, always playing with his heart on his sleeve

Both gentleman have developed some core routes in Darlington now with young families, this is where our level of rugby should be heading people you want to be there.

Any playing debating their future for next year looking at the current retentions of the DMP core squad they should seriously consider a move up north.

Any news from your good self reference retentions or new signings  for next season? Nobody would like to see you trolling DMP without any positive or constructive responses 😂🤣🤫

News I hear is 2 development squad back rows and a 2nd row are moving up the west cost.

Mr Knox is moving on along with 2 backs I can’t recall the actual names but for what I can remember is it a centre wills/Willis maybe and a utility back (sorry no idea of the name)

Any chance you could confirm any of these?

Nah. No recruitment (or otherwise) news whatsoever.
I'd be surprised if Knocker moved very far, although I wouldn't be all that surprised if he did move on, assuming a few of the missing backs become available for next season
As for back-rowers, that's certainly our strongest suit this season (even if two first-picks were unavailable yesterday; injury for one and out for the season, and new baby arrival for the other, so hopefully available for the Jersey trip unless he's suckling Wink).
It'll be interesting to see the size of the squad given the reduction of league size.

Euan McKirdy has re-signes with DMP for his second season with the club 13 tries from 22 appearances last term, not bad from the young scrum half

The Chinnor side to play Esher today in a behind closed doors friendly under the adapted laws. Only Kieran Goss was a regular last season, although Oscar Heath made one substituute appearance
