I'm sure Roth would have accepted an invitation to rejoin N1 even at the late stage OE withdrew themselves and it would have fulfilled Colin Bentley's dreams of a "Clash of the Titans" SmileSmileSmile

I don't think it is a Cinderford issue,  it clearly shows there should of been more done to either re-evaluate the teams in league - reinstate Rotherham or change fixtures..... shows only further poor management of the league

But will it mean Cinderford always face a rested side, keen to play, or a team who loses momentum…… going to be interesting to see

It would happen as you always follow a club in the fixtures so Cinderford must have been following OEs to have that happen

Ive just clocked that Cinderford pretty much always play the team that has a rest in their bye week. Is this going to be an advantage or disadvantage, I can’t quite decide 🤷‍♂️

Yes - Week one games are refersed in week 30 Week 2 to 15 repeat as weeks 16-29.
Your derby games are usually weeks 2 and 16.

For anyone interested the fixture matrix looks something like this, with the League Round (1..30) along the top and the team (A..P) down the left hand side. I'll leave it to the nerds amongst you to fit your team in ;-). I once tried to correlate the Homes and Aways against the appropriate team but it wasn't long before I got totally confused!

That's not strictly true, Taunton's successive home games are against Darlington and Plymouth over the Christmas/New Year period.
What is true for all clubs (I think) is that whoever they play in the first round they play the reverse fixture on the last day of the season

It is almost looking like there is a pattern, give the new boy the longest journey as their first match.

IIRC in Mount’s Bay’s only season in Nat one their first match was away at Tynedale.

Well there is a simple solution to not wanting the travel associated with Nat 1 - if you are at risk of getting promoted play the 2nd XV in the last few games.

Due to the number of teams in the far South West, and the lack of sides North of the Tyne, Cambridge often had more travel in National 2 South than in National 1.

The review decided there was sufficient desire to keep a National League, but we are moving to three leagues at level  4 which will reduce most sides travel a little - though some sides may find themselves with extra travel.

But that was before any discussion of the expanding the Premiership and possibly the Championship.

2 divisions of 14 at level 3 with 4 divisions of 14 at level 4 would certainly reduce a lot of travelling at both level 3 & 4.

No issue with me, just a concern that after 14 month's without income, starting off with the 2 furthest away trips will put a strain on the club's finances.
I certainly didn't need reminding that things even themselves out over the season and, as I said, hopefully we will have a lucrative period over Christmas/New Year with 2 home games.
Personally I hope to make both away games as Leeds and Darlington (well Middlesbrough) is where I spent my teenage years (a long time ago).

Back in 1999, Hoppers were landed with 900 miles of travelling for their first two games in N1. The long day trips to Newbury then Camberley were compensated with victory celebrations on the return journeys.
What if the Hokey Kokey really IS what it's all about?

We all get two away trips back to back, but those are Tonbridge's longest trips so it is a little different to them getting Blackheath and Old Elthamians as the two away trips. Especially in their first campaign.

But it is all luck of the draw and part of the joy of National rugby. Similarly someone has to start with two away games.

Actually I think one side doesn't but are away on the first and last week. Similarly, one side will not get two home games.
