Belting game in Jersey today, 32-21 FT, a real tense twisting thriller and great for the home side to see out that awful final minute and get the win, and 6th spot. Pirates gave everything as well, but Reds had done enough...

Kudos to Nottingham they came to win and we had to work hard to 5 - 1
The best thing of the day was the crowd, second best was two of our academy boys scoring, last try as well for the victory

Does anybody know what the Bedford player, Oli Curry, was sent off for yesterday, everyone seemed totally confused as to the reason.

I was told by a friend watching, he was being held on the floor and kicked out anS made contact to the head. Cherub I think said earlier in the thread it was harsh? I half wondered if it related back to one of those friendliest where he was sent off against Ampthill.

Stamping on someone’s head. The Ampthill player was antagonising him, but no excuse. Saw it live, looked deserved but not seen replays. Could be a lengthy ban. He’s a very lucky boy if he’s already signed a contract because he could miss half the season next year. Mike brown got 12 weeks reduced to 6 for pretty much an identical offence. Curry’s disciplinary record is poor (his 2nd red of the season, other for punching someone in the face, plus some yellows) so can’t see the same leniency applied. We can’t afford to carry a player that misses so many games through suspension.

Does anyone know what’s happening with the Saracens v Hartpury match? Is it going to be played or will Saracens be given a 28-0 bonus point win?

A 28-0 would be a proper let-off for Hartpury!

Does not really matter Saracens will be first or second whatever they decide. Does it matter who is 9th or 10th.

It matters somewhat as it determines who gets the 2nd leg at home. Sarries will be given a 20-0 win which will see them finish top.

Team finishing top gets to choose home/away order for play-offs.

Agree with everything you said CC. Great entertainment yesterday. Both sides gave it their all and a 1 point margin on the pitch is probably a fair reflection of the game. Wonderful to see the handful of Pirates supporters over and great to see the Pirates players make the effort to go over to them at FT. Just a shame that we couldn’t offer them a pitch side beer as it was hot yesterday. Can’t wait for next season already 🏉🏉🏉🇯🇪🇯🇪🇯🇪🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️ |

And do we think it would matter if Ealing had the choice? Even if Saracens lose players to the Lions and International tours, I think they will win both legs.

Indeed they might. However, we’ve seen from pre-season and early season that they are not quite the same formidable force without their key internationals.

Find it highly improbable that Saracens might allow contracted players to go on a pre-Lions training camp (albeit in a most desirable location ) rather than play for their employer in a brace of games which will determine whether they return to the top flight after a season 'below stairs'... As to home advantage, I've seen a suggestion that, regardless of who finishes top, Ealing might want to play the first leg at home as they would potentially sell more tickets when it starts 0-0, whereas Sarries may prefer the option of 'finishing the job' at home. I don't believe there is anything in the Champ regs about 20-0 or 28-0 or 4pts to 2pts etc award for Covid abandonment & even the theoretical possibility of the Hartpury game being staged next w/e, although that seems pretty unlikely. The organising committee will decide, apparently, so I expect we'll hear from them soon... If Hartpury were to lose by more than 43pts they would slip below Nottingham in the table & finish 10th.

If they use the same points system as in the Premiership, then cancellation would see Sarries awarded 4 points on a 0-0 tally. Thus Ealing would finish first with 45, and win the points differential by 1 as well. On the one hand, it isn't how I'd want to win. On the other...C'mon, they have 5 British and Irish Lions, and probably a bigger budget than the rest of the league put together!
