Would prefer a push to market 10s.

Recall it suggested 10s has the speed of 7s, with a few more pieces of the full game.

Some European nations Germany a prime example seem to be doing well at 7s, but not able to get stability at XV. From my limited knowledge of 10s n a TV show some years ago, was to build on skills.

During Tokyo 2020 the IOC President was at the 7s. It is a format he thinks is good for the Olympics. However he seems keen to see Rugby in more countries, and maybe in those nations 7s and 10s offer more than the slower pace of 15s.

Looking forward to new beginnings.

This isn't a proposal to help the development of the game in anyway it is just a desperate attempt to create a new rugby format that they can take ownership of and flog broadcasting rights to netflix or amazon etc. I would be embarrassed to associate my name with it or Ian Ritchie.

Which is a missed opportunity.
Although that should IMO have been done using 10s.

However I understand whilst 10s is only 10min each way. 12s is 15 each way.

World Rugby should look at both and try to build on one or the other. Could 12s work as a longer match, 20 or more mins each way? Or the 15 minutes might be effective, when allowing for stoppages, waiting for a dead ball could add 5 minutes each way.

Across Europe, could use international teams as per Rugby Europe 7s series, or maybe nations  like Germany, Netherlands, Belgium could bring two sides into a tournament?
Looking forward to new beginnings.

I watched the Bristol v Harlequins semi last season - difficult to top that in entertainment terms!

In that game the Quins back three exploited the space in the S half BUT also denied Bristol another 2/3 tries in the first. Quick ball and explosive running defeated power and bulk.

Cut the subs and slim the players down and the 15 a side game is excellent...

World 12s: World Rugby "do not wish to explore concept further"

Quote
A revolutionary 12-a-side competition planned for next year appears to have been killed off by World Rugby.

The World 12s was launched in September with organisers pledging to generate £250m of income to the game.

After consultation with stakeholders, World Rugby "do not wish to explore the concept further at this time".

A World Rugby spokesperson said the sport's priority was "advancing discussions" on a "harmonious annual international calendar".

...

However, sources at World 12s have told the BBC they are not yet "raising the white flag" and say the issue is more around the timing of the fledgling tournament than the concept itself.

...

Backed by luminaries such as World Cup-winning coaches Steve Hansen and Jake White, the World 12s hoped to launch next August in rugby's equivalent of the Indian Premier League.

But the announcement blindsided the game's authorities, while it is also understood CVC - the capital equity giant which has a commercial foothold in the Premiership, the United Rugby Championship and the Six Nations - were also not consulted and do not support the venture.

The tournament - due to be held in England - was intended to take place across three weekends and feature 192 of the world's best players, picked via auction to represent eight franchises.
