You'll be checking for a while yet - I think 16th June is the scheduled date

That makes sense to me, only 1 team being promoted from each of the level 4 leagues so only 2 down with winners only being promoted is fair. You have to remember a number of the top level 5 teams have been promoted in the reorganisation. |

There have been 18 play-offs, of those four of the winners were relegated the next season and two after two seasons - plus Tonbridge who were awarded the place. Seven remained in National 1 or higher, with three now in the Championship. Sedgley Park and Launceston both took part three times, Ampthill, DMP and Loughborough Students twice. But with three leagues going into one, so with three down already, I do not see how you could fit it in at level 4.

I've got mixed feelings about this. On the one hand 20odd? years of play offs have kept the season going right to the end for a few more clubs and inevitably produce pulsating games given the winner takes all scenario. On the other hand 3 teams down from a 14 team league seems disproportionate and may explain why we get so many clubs that "yo-yo"

Our Fixture Sec has been following this thread and told me that he had emailed the RFU yesterday about promotion & relegation for L6 and above and received the following:
"The regulations around promotion & relegation will be approved at the June council meeting. We will then share the relevant information as soon as we are able to following this." That's not to say that Nat2 clubs haven't been informed, but it's not been signed-off yet.

Makes sense. 6 leagues into 3

The older I get, the more the RFU leave me confused.

Just had it confirmed that there will only be 2 relegations from the Nat2 leagues next season - only the winners of Level 5 leagues will be promoted to Level 4 - no play offs for runners up

That's not a mistake Camquin. All will become clearer when EC publish level 9 and below leagues later this week. RFU publish all nationally regulated leagues but in EC local regulation starts at Level 9 - Eastern Counties 1. Although perhaps we should use the new naming convention and callmit Counties Eastern 1 East - West or something along those lines.

[QUOTE=Sid James]Just had an email from YRFU re: 2ndXV Merit Tables for next season.
It rightly states that there will be opportunities for the 1st & 2nd XV's to travel together but they are leaving it up to the Clubs to organise. Quite correct. It also states that the 1stXV fixtures will not be out until 16th June!
[/QUOTEIt actually says "by June 16th" if you read it carefully]

Believe the DoCs may have discretion over when fixtures are issued once the leagues have been allocated.

Fixtures likely out week commencing June 6th while the RFU determine which DoC's are responsible for which leagues now the leagues have been determined.

Both clubs went for level 7. Both clubs think that level 7 isn't a high enough standard, but if you don't sign up in the SW you will be left in the wilderness fixture wise.
So why one level 7, one level 8??? Befuddled |

Yup. No complaints here. Just a wry smile at, "reducing travel for matches, helping club sustainability by reducing travel costs." I appreciate that we're just one club and that it probably leads to reduced travel for many. |
