Ealing 28 (4T) - Ampthill 12 (2T) 53'. Charlie Walker scored a solo wonder try from about 65 meters, including a self chip and chase.

Quite a game at GR - Blues were well ahead, then Pirates back to lead 20-21 (57-59 on agg) but Blues have just scored a try + conversion, so back in front with 15-20 min to play...

2600. Considering the Regatta is rowing down the road, a good turnout on a sunny afternoon.

Maisey attempts a pen for Blues, big kick which would have put hosts 8 ahead on aggregate... but was missed. 7ish mins left

Ealing 49 (doesnt matter) - Ampthill 19 (also doesnt matter) - A pile of tries in a ten minute span by Ealing, then a nicely worked fifteen or so phases for Ampthill to hit back. Then Charlie Walker danced through 5 players to score Still a very chippy affair. Sir seems badly out of his depth, with a number of howlers (and this is coming from an Ealing supporter). Attendance maybe 500.

Robson's conversion misses, to large cheers, so it's all square - extra time 5 mins away

HT in extra-time, 27-33 on the day, Pirates 7 ahead on aggregate.
If Blues were to level it, that wouldn't be enough, as after ET they do try-count across both legs, which Pirates are well ahead on... (5-3 today & 6-4 last w/e)

Blues obviously knew the regs, as they opted to take a shot at goal to reduce margin to 4, but Maisey missed the shot. 5ish mins left
But then Blues score a try! Edited by islander - 07 May 2022 at 17:04 |

Maisey missed conversion, his side trail by 2 in dying moments. Either way, they would have needed to score again...

Try-scoring pass for Blues - dropped! But they had pen advantage, and (2pts down) opt to tap & go!

Have no idea how we’ve managed to lose that tie. Big leads thrown away in both legs. Match winning tries inexplicably dropped with the try line gaping at the end of normal time and extra time. Maisey missing 4 simple kicks in a row in the last 10 mins of normal and extra time, which, other than the conversion, any would’ve won the tie. Bottle jobs
