Kidderminster Harriers got caught by this in 1993-4. Won the conference at a canter, ground on track to be (and indeed was subsequently) finished in time for kick off of the first match of the next season. Promotion refused because it hadn't been finished for inspection in February 1994.

If the RFU will really ok promotion on the basis of plans, then for once maybe we're getting something right.
That'd be a first then Wink
To be fair though, Kiddy fell foul of the FA nearly thirty years ago, so a different era entirely. There was, quite rightly, much indignation, too.
However, current EFL regs for entry into their League Two are more sensible and flexible, thus:

minimum criteria:

Capacity

Seats

Qualification Criteria

4,000 (with ability to reach 5000)

500 (with ability to reach 1,000)

Admission Criteria

5,000

1,000 (with ability to reach 2,000)

Membership Criteria

5,000

2,000

imagegvv7w.png page365image29415328page365image29415216

1.2  A new member club entering League Two must comply with the Qualification Criteria and has until the 30 April in its first Season as a Member to meet the Admission Criteria set out in the above table

Perhaps you would have seen this news weeks ago if you had looked at earlier posts - the reality is, we need to have the planning consent in place to ensure that "IF" we manage to attain promotion we can go ahead and put in place said facilities (I think initially these would be temporary stands, we have been assured these could be erected between the end of the Championship season and the start of the Premiership season). This is probably belts and braces - after the RFU implied that potentially next season a capacity of 5000 would suffice which Castle Park has already - but as we are all aware the RFU have been known to speak with "forked tongue" before so best to be safe.

Please note I did say IF we attain promotion - our big spending rivals in the smoke (Ealing) have made some incredible signings (again), and a lot of our competitors have done so too, I think this season coming is going to be very challenging. Doncaster retained a lot of the squad from last season, a few were let go / retired and a handful moved on to higher leagues - the Knights have 21 players retained that were in the squad last season so the Team before self ethos should prevail again this season.

frankly - assuming that's correct - that's a pretty flexible stance by the RFU. The FA is very doctrinaire on these things, whether it's temporary or not, and whether it could be finished by the start of the next season or not, they do their ground audits in Feb-March for the following season. If the structure isn't there and finished, then you've failed the audit.

I understand where you are coming from - one would assume that we have a ground share arrangement (we had Hull KR ground arranged this season - & Eco Power Stadium (formerly Keepmoat) home of Doncaster Rovers previously, we couldn't have it this season as it is hosting Rugby League World Cup matches in October) , the groundshare will likely be presented to show that if the stands are not in place by start of season, that we would have the facilities that would meet the requirements.

Jack Grant, scrum half joins Ealing from NSW Waratahs. He's 28 and started multiple games of super rugby last year.

It was interesting to see the Rugby Paper . . club by club signings and departures. Not much flow from Prem down to Championship, but huge amount of signings from Bucs. There seem to have been bigger signings in Nat 1! Hopefully, financial reality is sinking in. Top 4 have done most business and will probably remain as top 4. However, it does not show all the loan players from Prem Clubs  ..  as I am sure the likes of Ampthill and Scottish will  have many on the first day of the Season.

We attended a "Meet The Players" evening at The Mennaye the other night. Pirates have 20 new players, but a lot of very young (and very promising) players. We have lost a lot of experienced players from last season so I think top 4 would be a hell of an achievement. We had positive news on the long running stadium saga. The CEO stated that the project would go ahead despite the blow when Cornwall Council decided not to include it in the bids for levelling up funding (a shock out of the blue). It will be on a smaller scale than originally planned, but the planning permission for the original blue print is, and will remain, in place. So there will be the chance to expand as time goes on. He also said that there is a review of minimum criteria going on and there is a chance that minimum capacity will be cut from 10,000 to 5,000. That would certainly make lot of sense and make life a lot easier. We live in hope.

James Flynn, Jersey Reds to Saracens. By my reckoning 10 props have gone on to top flight (8 Prem, 2 Celtic Lg) from here over past decade... + approx another 20 in other positions

This is replicated all over The Championship - do you think Mr Sweeney knows this?

Without ever having spoken to him (has he ever been spotted at a Championship match? If so it wasn't here, nor at a Jersey away game) I sense he knows it but chooses to ignore/downplay it as it doesn't suit his/RFU's agenda...

Yes, he does! He wants a successful Level 2 but his hands are tied over money until the Premiership Agreement is renegotiated.it’s also interesting to see how many players from BUCS teams have joined the Premiership this summer, perhaps why Conor O’Shea was suggesting a competition including them and Level 2.

The '1st team squad' page on the website is password protected! I wonder what the rationale is behind that?

My guess would be that this indicates work's in progress...
