I think the league is almost as open as it has ever been, NW have definitely improved, if they keep their current team together they will be I am sure at the top of the league they end up in, Wimbledon too have been very close in a number of games, one point separated them from Barnes at their place before Christmas, and beating Bury away was a great result for them, quite what hs happened to Bury is a mystery, the difference between pre early Jan and now must be worrying for the club, but they will come back stronger. Worthing have stabilised, and will I am sure regroup for next season. TJs are on a roll since beating Esher, and we play them soon, and the other 3 Kent teams Canterbury, WP and Sevenoaks are all comfortably mid-table. I would agree that Esher are a length or two ahead of Dorking and my club Barnes in the race, and have the Guernsey away game in hand too, but with Esher having still to play Dorking at their place and Barnes at Barn Elms, it is set to be a cracking end to the season…I hope we have enough fit players to put out a team worthy of the four big games we have left, which apart from the champions elect include Henley, Sevenoaks and TJs…a brutal run in!!!!

Yes, that's correct; anyone who trusts the BBC for accurate league tables is making a mistake. They had the Hull/Rotherham score in important N2N match last w/e the wring way round too, altho' that has since been corrected at least...
HaHa Islander. You should have ended your responce at the juncture BBC. !!!

so fairly decisive results at the weekend at the top with Esher taking a firm grip at the top. The battle for best 13th place spot hots up - Billingham 38 Ionians 33 Wimbledon 33 Newport 29 Dudley 27. Think that will all go to wire

In reality at this stage it is probably between Ionians and Wimbledon for the best 2nd bottom place.

Yes - those 2 with same points, number of wins and draws - only separated by a Rizla’s points difference (12pts in the northern team’s favour as things stand)…

If Wimbledon stay up, is there a chance that one of the current N2East Clubs will be moved sideways???
Henley sent West or possibly Havant???
And then what if B Stortford survive relegation, might we see a West side move in the oppo direction or would the two moves cancel out???

The permutations are lengthy!

If Taunton and Cinderford come down then West has to lose a team. That would probably be Chester going North. If Wimbledon stay up then Havant and Colchester come in to East unless Bishops Stortford come down in which case Henley or Havant would have to go West with Chester still going North.

And then .... zzzzzz

Sorry, fell asleep looking at the combinations. I'll come back to it on 28th April!

Oxford Quins have won R1Midlands (they were in South Central last year) and could arguably slot into any of the three leagues at L4.

Oxford, Henley and Havant could all go west with Hinckley and Loughborough going east.
Makes more sense travel wise.

I would have thought the Kent Clubs would have been delighted to avoid the western side of the M25 on Saturdays.

Too sensible for the RFU.

I may be wrong but I think the designation of East/West etc no longer applies

I think it is safe to safe, when you split level-4 into three, Redruth, Tynedale and Tonbridge will be put in different leagues.

Fully understand Redted. Was just saying that Hinckley and Loughborough are a lot further away from Kent than Oxford, Henley and Havant.

Same applies to their distances from Redruth.

The main problem with travelling distances has always been the outlying nature of Cornwall.

Not for us guys in E Anglia....far rather head up the A1 than round the M25....but it goes with the territory, National League means travel....I miss our trips to Redruth, Barum, Dings and ofcourse Taunton...great times!

Agreed GJ, long weekends in Devon/Cornwall either early or late in the season were always a highlight.
