Nice the RFU have told us when the fixtures will be announced rather than it being a surprise like normal!

hmmmmm
The PJC will start a week later and the 1st Round draw will be made in the New Year instead of the end of the League programme hardly groundbreaking

Well it's good news that they have moved the league season end into April. Finishing on 11 March this year was ridiculous.

Has anyone heard much about how the PJT will run this season? Interested to know what proportion of clubs have chosen to enter the second running of the competition. We (Jersey) didn't see it as a viable option last season, with the need to arrange short-notice travel to (or from) parts of England we weren't used to visiting, and the same applies this time round... also, we already have an end-of-season cup focus with the annual Siam encounter with our Channel Island neighbours

Not sure Papa Johns will be sponsoring anything this season...should have gone with Dominoes!

They are not up on the RFU website yet. But that is often a week or two after they are sent to clubs.

81 byes, 75 in the counties section. Counties 1 North Shield, Counties 2 North Shield, & Counties 3 North Shield are only 8 teams, not 16. |

St Austell hosting Old Northamptonians on 13th April... 269 miles.
Brighton hosting Oundle on 27th April... 157 miles. Banbury hosting Launceston on 27th April... 194 miles
I understand that by the nature of it some groups will involve significant mileage... but I'm not sure this current format has a long term future. If there's no real incentive to travel those distances clubs will drop out and not take part the following year. The fewer clubs that take part the greater the travel distances required for those that remain. I'm not sure what the solution is. Anyone know how long the initial sponsorship deal is in place? I would imagine they'll have to look at the whole thing properly after 3 or 4 years to work out if it's viable and/or if it needs tweaks. |

Bruce, the 1st draw gave us teams that are in our league, and there was no enthusiasm from the players or club, now the draw has us host St Austell and away to Lydney, it is far more attractive to everyone. Long away days/nights out do make it more exciting.

It really was from the 22....

Anyone fancy a U23's game on the 20th April, at Tring 12KO before our game with St Austell?

Bruce ONs are actually touring to Launceston not St Austell (but might partake in their ales) but your point is still very valid

I think as TP suggested you've got to make a weekend of it for that distance... I'm just less keen to travel those sort of distances than I used to be. I'm only the photographer, but it's been a labour of love for nearly 20 years now. I'm happy at 70-90 miles from home... but much further than that and I start thinking about swerving it!

Apologies Bruce, RFU have changed our games so we DO now play St Austell not Launceston, and Tring not Bridgnorth

See Papa Johns are closing 43 outlets nationwide ,so would suggest this could be the end of this competition after this season

Certainly the end of the sponsorship. But then again, the RFU did run the Intermediate Cup, Senior Vase and Junior Vase without a title sponsor for years before the pandemic so I'd say it would still be capable of continuing. If they can actually stop the mass pullouts that occurred last season.

Its happening again. The RFU really needs to put their foot down and punish clubs that are pulling these sort of stunts properly. Financial penalties or something if they really want this to work. But also, why on earth would clubs enter then back out so late when they already knew the fixtures? I bet this sort of nonsense wouldn't happen if we still had 14 in a league.

I doubt the RFU know much about this competition let alone care about it. Pizza doesn't go with gin and tonic!
