Best of luck to Fyn, he was very good at Moseley !

He only played five games over two seasons.
It just seemed more than that Smile

Dugmore has a lot of experience for his age, while Lefty seened solid in limited first team action. Epi looked fast, but raw.

Sounds like this is a good move for the players and both clubs. Our coaches have a deserved reputation for developing players, so I expect they'll get the best out of these lads and improve them while they are with us.

Pirates announce 12 D/R/s from Exeter Chiefs, 7 of whom spent time with us last season. The others include Jack Nowell’s younger brother and James Kenny, prop who was with us some time ago and who had a fair bit of Premiership time last season.

I am not too sure about your claim of a ‘ fair bit of Premiership time last season’ can be justified as he was a DR at Coventry for almost a half of the season.   Seem a bit of a stretch really.
12 players on DR? Did think there was a maximum of 10 or 11.   Could someone clarify please?
Pirates joining the rush to become Premiership clubs feeder clubs? I hope not.

Being new to this league, I was surprised to see do many DR players. 3 or 4 in National One, but 12 seems to be taking the mickey. Why have a club at all?

I do believe their is no restrictions in the Championship if you remember a couple of years ago when Hartpury had around 12 in their starting line up and condemned Richmond

In the Championship, it is three loan players plus 10 Academy Players
National 1 it is three loan plus six academy players
National 2 it is four in total, and no more than three loan players.

Academy player, who used to be known as dual registered, can be registered for multiple clubs.

Pirates used to run the Cornwall Academy until the RFU gave it to Exeter, so a fair number of them historically would have been Pirates players not Chiefs.
For example Frankie Nowell has come up through all the age groups at the Pirates as have so many other players associated with Exeter.

I hadn't realised it was so many.

So, theoretically, you could have 13 Premiership players on the field in the Championship - or is that too simple ?

Except that the academy players are not really at Premiership standard.
They have to be under 24, but most are under 21.

Some are excellent, like Jake Garside - though Bedford mainly use him off the bench, he started for Cambridge in 21/22.

Some are perfectly good bench players, like Toby Thame - and he is in the England U20 squad.

Given the number of Cornish players who’ve gone to Exeter you could argue we have been a feeder club for some time.

That has been said before when Hartpury and London Scottish have had that many. I suspect Pirates will get some flack on this forum.

Pirates have, for several seasons, enjoyed close links with Exeter and a dual reg agreement that has benefitted both clubs.  We lose some of these during the season for various cup comps when Exeter recall them.
This coming season is a different set of circumstances for Pirates, for too many years we have been fighting our very own council to get a stadium, for the whole of Cornwall to benefit from and from where Pirates can build.  Plans are now in place for a smaller version of the original, initially to be the home of Truro City FC.
Funds now have to be put in place to begin that build.  I imagine that due to this, the players budget for next season has been severly cut.  Hence the heavy reliance on D.R's from both Exeter and Ealing.
The crowdfunding appeal that has been advertised, probably won't be in time to support the playing budget of both Pirates and TCFC for the 23/24 season.  More likely to pay dividends in 24/25.  Until then it is prudent for the club to cut its cloth accordingly.
We will issue and don our flack jackets.

Fully agree Pirates always add more than they take out so I'm sure this works well for all concerned - particularly the players.
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

How about the 31 at London Scottish Harlequins last season?
