Good win for The Pirates on the road. Feels like all the new boys are settling in well and this competition has been an excellent pre-season for us. Obviously tougher tests to come, but any win away from home is good going - especially at The RAG which has been a bit of a bogey ground for us over the years.

Some premiership sides really didn't enter this with the spirit that was intended, Sale and Bristol field their strongest sides minus any away at the WC.

Yes i was going to say, that is a brutal scoreline for Cambridge, 16 tries conceded! They'll just hope they've escaped without too many injuries before the league starts I'd expect.

Poor old Cambridge were already in awful nick last week. I was told that their replacemwnt hooker had been playing for the 3rds the week before, and thwy picked up a few more injuries in that game. So I can't imagine what shape they were in for this match.

Fair enough. Like a lot of the Champ clubs, the Prem outfits will have been using these last few games as pre-season warm ups to get that winning feeling for the start of Prem also.
To be fair to Cambridge, looking at the other scorelines across the Prem Cup, and the recent form of those particular Champ clubs, I'd say they'll be able to give the likes of Ampthill and Scottish a decent game when the league kicks off. Looking forward to seeing the Bedford v Tigers scores come in, that should be game of the day.

I spent a very enjoyable afternoon at Cambridge last week watching them play Ealing. Whilst they were comfortably beaten over 80 minutes, Cambridge were very competitive in the first half. I can’t see anything ahead of them this season other than a scrap for Championship survival, there was enough on display to suggest that they may win that scrap.
