Much to my almost complete shock, Ealing (and Pirates) have both been awarded 20-0, 4 try walkovers for the Jersey games. This means that Ealing will host a semi-final against Leicester Tigers on Sunday 18th February at 1500, which will be televised live on TNT Sports. This determination also make Ealing top seeds (24 pool points, 5 wins, and PD of 99), so if they should happen to win that match, then they would also ensure a home cup final.

Well - Ealing's comms say that we're hosting the match on Twitter and their website, but Tigers says 'time and venue TBC', so let's see what happens. Given that we have 4 months, I'd like to think that this is the perfect opportunity for Ealing to push their planning permission, or even just attempt to get temporary permission to bring in stands to get the capacity up for the match. Tigers have a notoriously large following, so I could see this being a sell out at 5k (or am I dreaming?).

Ealing season ticketholdrrs were given a window  today to buy tickets to the semi vs. Tigers. Some consternation though as we were not given the option to book our usual seats, and instead they go to Leicester fans or PRL bigwigs. Quite pricey too, with best seats at £75, regular seated £40.

Maybe it wasn't the Ealing Hierarchys decision to do it like this, feel for the Ealing faithful though.

Potential profit of at least £134,033, can't imagine dividends are paid

Sponsorship from Trailfinders £4,270,440

Charitable gifts from The Mike Gooley Trailfinders Charity of £3,397,448

That is a net expenditure by Mike Gooley of over £7.5m, before other income which you would think would be over 4 times what Jersey's budget was.

Apparently it was out of Ealing's hands the RFU and Premiership said they needed all the best seating for their use first. Of course this is where a majority of the season ticket holders sit.

Now the cost of the tickets is another matter and where I suspect the club are trying to cash in. The irony is the Early Bird email was trying to drum up support for Ealing saying how well Leicester travel and how we need us there to be vocal for our club, whilst telling us to not sit in our usual seats and pay over twice the price for the privilege. As gerg mentioned this has gone down like a lead balloon.

There's no growth in Assets so it's operating costs meaning players, coaches and facilties.

Ealing has a women's squad as well. They're pro aren't they?

The whole cost of the women's squad is capped at 190k/annum. I'm sure that there are considerable coaching costs, and expenses, but it doesn't come close to touching the men's squad.
