The Doncaster matches might have been in Spring 1999.   I played against them at the time when games were being cramped in to finish the league season

May we’ll have had a similar situation then but the time referenced earlier definitely was when Donny were old Nat 1/championship. So after 05/06

Knights have this storyline in the history section of the clubs website, the run of 9 games in 27 days happened during the 2009/10 season

Ramsale - you’re just 2 years out as it was 1997 and, guessing from your name , I presume you were playing for Thanet Wanderers at the time. In that season we played 28 league matches winning them all, 8 Intermediate Cup games and 6 Yorkshire Cup games, 42 games in total. Sadly we just lost 2 games, the last 2 in the Finals when Yorkshire RFU insisted we played their final 5 days after the Intermdiate one. As you allude to, the final months was manic as we fitted in 9 games in a month. And all this as a part-time club. But what a team spirit we had in that season with every away game inevitably meaning we got back to Doncaster in the early hours of Sunday morning!

My understanding is that the disputes committee also confirmed that Caldy had complied with all protocols in the week leading up to the game and on the match day itself.

Interestingly the reason for the initial delayed kick off from 2 pm to 2.15 pm (arranged after the pitch inspections at 8 am and 12 noon) was in anticipation of the rain which was forecast to descend on Paton Field early afternoon.

I wonder if there was an element Blues wanting a hard and fast pitch for running rugby instead of potentially soft and muddy pitch later in the season that the 9 Caldy players prefer.

Not attacking Caldy here.

Does anyone know if a game has been cancelled due to a sun baked hard pitch? We have all had pre-season where the ground feels like cement with sandpaper on top but training and games take place, which can’t be much different to a frozen pitch.

Was it this season or last where there was serious consideration to exactly that - didn't happen in the end

Last season.

We had a referee who was also a hobby pilot and flew over our pitches taking pictures.

"Looks dry, Paul."

The sun did not appear as expected, then the clouds got in the way, then the rain failed to come to the party.  Luckily the fire in the clubhouse kept the chills away. Let’s hope there is no mud in February.
