What a brilliantly contested match - England just beat a very good rugby team.
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

[QUOTE=tulip]tigerburnie I’m Irish. But I think it will be a good match. I think England are slowly getting there. George Ford can drop goals from 35 metres out. I don’t know why teams don’t do this It’s a free penalty. Ireland do have a fantastic bench to come on for last half hour which may make the difference  [/

Well there you go an Irish man telling England how to win close games
Well done England you are back

Never been happier for Italy - they have had strong showings in the under 20’s for a few years it had to come. Wales for the wooden spoon now.

i am with you Sid. May not be the greatest song. I and many friends have given up going to Twickers due to prices and dire rugby but if that is the best we have lets sing it with gusto.
Had international Womens day today and Mothers day to look forward to Sunday. Mothers Day fair enough but too much PC wokery rubbish. Let tomorrow be a day of rugby and beer. I will be watching the local club and then retiring to the bar for the international.
Hopefully the wife will come along and be able to drive me home via the Chinese.
A gammon dinosaur long may we roam!

Does anyone really believe this galvanises the team to sporting glory. Listening to a song about slavery is insulting and disheartening.
Perhaps more so than the abysmal performances from England".

It's a song for God's sake!
Do you honestly believe that anyone singing this song is celebrating slavery?
Get a grip.

I realise it is a song but it sounds like a funeral dirge.
A lament for the dead.
I guess it's rather appropriate for Twickenham .
Keep wearing your striped blazer and don't forget to get a firmer grip making those rude hand gestures when singing the lyrics.

I doubt that you have ever corresponded with anyone less likely to be a 'Twickenham Blazer'.
I am just someone who is sick of the WOKE/easily offended brigade that are blighting our society today.

Hear hear. Swing Low is our song and it will remain so. It does rouse players and it is fantastic to sing.

I doubt too that you have ever corresponded with a  NORTHERN BLOKE who calls a spade a spade.
I too are sick of the woke woofers et al But my original posting was about how rubbish the England team are and that the anthem and songs do nothing to rouse national morale.
I don't give a flying monkeys toss whether songs are about slavery or pink fairies mincing around coloured flags but there should be a greater degree of passion from those who attend the game.

English by birth. Blessed by God to have been born in YORKSHIRE.

Being born, raised and still living in Yorkshire, you couldn't be more wrong.
You appear to have altered your point re slavery and it being insulting etc but you are entitled to your opinion about Swing Low.
I disagree with you as, having been to Internationals at Twickenham many times, I believe I have seen plenty of passion in the singing of Swing low.

My point regarding Swing Low is still valid but it doesn't worry me or cause me any concern if its about slavery. My point is that it is dire and does nothing to rouse national morale..
As a former top official who managed a  very famous national league club and had direct control of international ticketsl i have also been to Twickenham on many occasions but no longer have the passion that remains with you.
Keep taking the medication because I suspect there will be no improvement in performances.

BTW. It was me who was referring to being born in Yorkshire
