Looks like a quick trip to Paris to get any rugby this weekend (Racing 92 or Stade Français)

I'd go to Orkney, but they're Away

Next weekend looks good - Saturday Racing v Stade F, Sunday France v Italy

Allons enfant de la patrie,
Le jour de gloire est arrivé

Or is it
Ou est le Papier?

For some reason Blackheath have slipped off my radar. I did think of watching Bury St Edmunds or Hackney but ended up tidying up my garage!

England's Alex Mitchell ruled out of Scotland match with knee injury

Quote
England scrum-half Alex Mitchell will miss the Six Nations match against Scotland on Saturday after suffering a knee injury.

The 26-year-old will likely be replaced by Danny Care or Ben Spencer for the Calcutta Cup clash at Murrayfield.

Bristol scrum-half Harry Randall has been called into Steve Borthwick's 36-man training squad as cover.

An England spokesperson said Mitchell's injury requires "further investigation" to determine its severity.

I read that Zach Mercer is looking at a return to the Top 14 having been ignored by England for 6 Nations and England A - didn't we do well ConfusedConfused

If rugby is to be considered a business, then players should be allowed to play wherever they want without stigma - "Oh look he's letting his country down"

Here here!

The ban on playing for England if you play overseas is pointles and serves no purpose.
I hope Mercer continues to play well and his good form sees him selected for the Lions.

My recollection of the non selection of overseas players was originally driven by players, it then later was linked to not being able to call up players early for training purposes. A player playing in France for example will not be released before the agreed international window, the reason one is released playing for an English club is because the RFU pay the PRL clubs to access the players early. You may recall when George North was playing for Northampton, he was released by his club to play for Wales outside of the agreed international window and Northampton were fined for breaking the agreement, so North went to Wales to play, it's not just English clubs and Gatland's law, pretty sure the All Blacks used to only select players who played in NZ, but that may have changed recently.

This must be the best Scottish side since the late 80s (Sole, Calder, Jeffreys, Armstrong, Chalmers, Hastingses etc)

Think England will regret dropping Freddie Steward. He might not be the quickest but he dominates in the air. Especially when it's yet again another backline unfamiliar with each other

I was able to watch the last 20 minutes or so of the France vs Italy Under 20 international, where Italy fully deserved their 23-20 victory and their back row were especially impressive. The Italian pack were also totally dominant in the scrums. Hopefully this will soon migrate to the full international side

Talk me through it.
Watching Randall and Hopkirk is more interesting..
Don't respond by saying it should be Hopkirk Deceased
He has more life than England Rugby
Can't wait for the Avengers to follow
Watch National League Rugby.
It's cheaper and more entertaining
