I've waited until teams were announced to create this topic. Basically, I'm very happy with the Ealing side that I'm seeing announced. I am assuming that they have done all relevant admin in regard to players being cup tied, as there are several players on here who I don't believe played in the pool stages, though the Jersey walkover may have allowed them special dispensation.

Here is the team - the only surprises for me are not having Shingler at 10 or on the bench, but it worked well against Pirates, and I'm sure we'll hear twenty times on Sunday's broadcast that Dan Lancaster is Stuart Lancaster's son.  Also surprised that there is no Tom Collins after his recent run of form, but he may have picked up a niggle. Happy to see Andrew Davidson in the squad - he is a massive presence to have coming off the bench.

Here's hoping that Ealing can make a statement versus Tigers this weekend.

The "rules" on player eligibility for these games have me confused. I have seen comments about having to have previously played in the competition and also, from Gloucester, that Charlie Atkinson is cup tied, having played for Leicester earlier in the pools.

Then I see Will Rigg on the bench for Exeter. Can't work out how both can be correct. Or perhaps Exeter are about to mess up and Gloucester can appeal even if they lose on the pitch. Just seems strange.

Agreed - Will Rigg on the bench for Exeter is very, very odd given that he was in another club in the same competition for the pool stages, which, at least to me, is much more concerning than someone who was on the same club but didn't feature due to world cup duty or similar.

Yes, Rigg did feature heavily in Cov's cup matches, so it does seem rather odd to me.

Standing tickets are now sold out for the match, with c.1000 seated tickets still available based on the Ealing ticketing site.

I've checked this with our team manager out of idle curiosity, and as long as they've played in the pool stages of the cup they can then play in the knockout phase, for any team.

The 'cup tied' element seems to have been removed altogether.

As a new signing, Will Rigg can only for Exeter in Semi final if

He played for Exeter in the pool stages - No
He was selected for a match that did not take place - N/A Exeter played Jersey
He was injured - No, he played for Cov
He is a front row player needed to prevent uncontested scrums - No, he is a centre
At the discretion of the tournament organiser - Must be this.

Whiteley, Wells and Clare have all played for Blues over several years.

Ealing have 3 ex Blues - Twelvetrees, Birds-Tulloch and Biyi Alo.

I recall Charlie Clare celebrated a significant birthday in Dublin after playing for Jersey in the B&I. The positions are Tight Head, Lock, Flanker & Hooker (Jersey occasionally produced a few decent forwards).
