I was indebted to your supply of a most excellent bottle of single bottle of malt whisky which was downed in the 20 minutes before we set off for the Paton Field Stadium. On reflection after 7 bottles of excellent Champagne and fine wine, neither the bottle of MaCallan or the contents of your one pint hip flask were strictly necessary but they went smashing with a bowl of salted peanuts.

I thought Ealing played extremely well yesterday, especially considering their injury list being a mile long.
Clubs tend to be overly secretive on player injuries but I for one hope to see Smid & Tizzano back for the run in which is building nicely to hopefully a decider at St Peter in late April sunshine with both teams having fully fit squads to select from. I'll be there anyway but it will surely be streamed so other clubs can follow it.

Craig Willis went off injured with a shoulder injury. Shingler the number two fly half is also injured. I would say that Craig is the number one key player in Ealing squad. The third choice is Lancaster and in my opinion would not make most Championship teams. David Johnston  ' utility ' player is also injured and he can play flyhalf and again in my opinion is a better option than Bomber Lancaster.

The game at Jersey will be finely balanced between the top two teams but who plays flyhalf for Ealing will be critical. It could have a telling effect on Saturdays game at Bedford Blues.

The game at Bedford is huge. Should Ealing win, then they will be very confident going into the last few games knowing that Jersey have to go to Doncaster and Bedford before the two teams meet. Should Jersey falter, then Bedford could be champions before the showdown in Jersey.
However, should Bedford win, then the door is ajar and I can see Jersey crashing through it despite the tough games to come.
Exciting finish to the season in store at top and bottom. Just a shame that there are no play offs!!

Bedford have had a cracking season, not sure they can be champions this season though.

I have to wonder whether the RFU will decide on how many (if any) clubs are going to be relegated, before the final round of matches Confused

Seagoon,

I think you have confused two distinct personnas. My name is Eddie and the chap who writes the tosh in The Rugby Paper is called John. Couldn't be clearer.

I did talk to John's wife who informed me that she went into his office at about 7.30 pm on Saturday evening and saw him slumped over his laptop for all purposes dead to the world. It must have been a frightning sight apparently made worse by the significant number of peanuts coated in a disgusting frothing and bubbling residue which caked most of his unkempt stubble.

The good lady told me she thought it unlikely that any sensible report on the game could have been written by the Huckleberryly Pear who for most of the afternoon had been all over the Paton Field Stadium like a mad woman's p**s.

Having now read the report in The Rugby Paper I thought the chap must have held it together slighly better than he had any right to.

I agree with No 7 - Without Willis or Shingler, I think Ealing will have a much higher hill to climb. Lancaster still requires a lot of development. I honestly expected to see someone brought in for injury cover, so hopefully that indicates that Craig or Shingler are ready.

...and Sir's frustration explained more today with Pirate's Beaton banned for 3 weeks for shoving him over.

[/QUOTE]Stop worrying mate Ealing's power in the forwards and Midfield will be far too much for Blues  even if you play Ben Ward at fly half. Blues have got a brilliant back line going forward as good as anything in the league with pace to burn but defence seems to be an optional extra they often don't bother with. If Jersey maintain their lucky streak of form and keep winning the game at St Peter is the one to really worry about.
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.
