London Irish poised for update in takeover saga - reportLondon Irish’s prospective investor Daniel Thomas Loitz is set to provide fans with a “significant update” on his takeover bid of the former Gallagher Premiership side, according to Sky Sports. Loitz, a German investor who is director of investment firm Hokulani Ltd, has been in talks with London Irish about a potential takeover of the club, who went into administration in June 2023 and were subsequently suspended from the Premiership. Sky Sports have reported that Loitz has described these talks as “positive”, and will address fans on Wednesday evening with a “positive update”.Pause <-js id="brightcove-ded-" muted="true" --id="6354502661112" -account="5446914862001" -p="yGBvl5dn" playsinline="true" -="default" -application-id="" ="-js vjs-device-android vjs-controls-enabled vjs-touch-enabled vjs-working vjs-v8 vjs-layout-small bc-p-yGBvl5dn_default bc-p-yGBvl5dn_default-index-0 vjs-vpaid-controls- vjs-ad-controls vjs-ima3-5 vjs-plugins-ready vjs-p-info vjs-contextmenu-ui vjs-viewability vjs-errors vjs-has-started vjs-ad-loading vjs-user-inactive ima3-ad-loading vjs-vpaid-playing vjs-ad-playing vjs-playing" ="-1" lang="en" translate="no" role="region" aria-label=" P" style="-sizing: border-; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba0, 0, 0, 0; vertical-align: top; color: rgb255, 255, 255; : rgb21, 27, 23; : ; padding: 0px; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; word-break: initial; width: 402px; height: 226.125px; overflow: ; top: 0px; left: 0px; outline: 0px; display: block !imant;"> < ="vjs-play-control vjs-control vjs- vjs-playing" ="" title="Pause" aria-="false" style="-sizing: inherit; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba0, 0, 0, 0; font-size: inherit; line-height: inherit; -: initial; -: 0px 0px; -size: initial; -repeat: initial; -attachment: initial; -origin: initial; -clip: initial; border-width: initial; border-style: none; border-color: initial; transition: none 0s ease 0s; appearance: none; : relative; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; height: 42px; width: 4em; flex: 0 0 auto; cursor: pointer;"> < ="vjs-mute-control vjs-control vjs- vjs-vol-0" ="" title="Unmute" aria-="false" style="-sizing: inherit; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba0, 0, 0, 0; font-size: inherit; line-height: inherit; -: initial; -: 0px 0px; -size: initial; -repeat: initial; -attachment: initial; -origin: initial; -clip: initial; border-width: initial; border-style: none; border-color: initial; transition: none 0s ease 0s; appearance: none; width: 4em; height: 42px; : relative; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; flex: 0 0 auto; cursor: pointer;">Unmute Loaded: 57.29% fullscreen-control vjs-control vjs-" ="" title="Fullscreen" aria-="false" style="-sizing: inherit; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba0, 0, 0, 0; font-size: inherit; line-height: inherit; -: initial; -: 0px 0px; -size: initial; -repeat: initial; -attachment: initial; -origin: initial; -clip: initial; border-width: initial; border-style: none; border-color: initial; transition: none 0s ease 0s; appearance: none; : relative; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; height: 42px; width: 4em; flex: 0 0 auto; cursor: pointer;"> Loitz will provide the update via video call as the Exiles look to be another step towards playing agaiThe club will be eyeing a return to the revamped second division in English rugby in 2025, with the RFU confirming in April that the league will expand in numbers. I know little about how to run a business. But it feels to me, two tv shows explain it to my mind.
However if the RFU wanted Alan Sugar as a business partner, they would have the Finger pointed and the ‘Your Fired’. Elsewhere clubs looking to progress visit a Dragons Den. They cannot offer a profit, or a three year plan, but because someone at the RFU said so, they think they can be a professional sports club. What worries me in 12 months, the RFU will roll down the steel shutters, and pretend they have got it all sorted, hidden inside their corner shop.

The older I get, the more the RFU leave me confused.

Looking on the LI forum, it appears that Loitz has engaged with six or eight fans by contacting one of them on Facebook, and then invited them to a Teams call in which he outlined his plans. Apparently he posted the call on his Twitter, but most people who have watched it seem to have more questions than answers as a result. My understanding on the local grapevine is that there are still two or three interested parties, but that Loitz is the only one going public and trying to paint himself as a saviour in the eyes of the supporters.

thought there might have been some smoke signals by now - anyone seen anything? I guess many of the national media journos are having a break between end of season and summer tours, while others have grown bored of this dragging on - it was described as 'tedious' by the BBC's rugby correspondent a couple of months ago, a regrettable comment from someone in his position...
