Coincidentally, Cov appear to have got the plan for the west side of the ground under way (according to local reports).
Originally I believe the aim was for apartments with a covered terrace attached. Now it appears that some kind of deal is on the cards with Extra Care for 'later living' apartments together with health/well-being type provision, bistro etc.
Hopefully the covered terrace is still part of the picture.
If so, I would imagine this would take the licensed capacity potential to 6-7000, with the Butts Road end still available for development (and the railway end too if they decide that's necessary).

Coventry, Doncaster and Bedford definitely.
Ealing - I thought I had heard mention had a plan but I am not 100%
Ampthill, Cambridge, Scottish and Nottingham - No
I haven't been to either Caldy or Hartpury, but guess they are both a No as well?
Same goes for Chinnor?

Immediate assistance (if that's the right word!) then for 4 teams maximum.

My guess is also with the "2 years at 5,000 before needing 7,500 in Year 3" is that you really only need a "plan on paper" to illustrate a concept to the auditors to pass the first hurdle. It is likely (certain?) with the financial differences that whoever goes up first is going to "bounce" between the leagues for a bit - as Worcester did historically and most teams do in Football as well.

All of which means I can't see anyone really needing to achieve more than 5,000 capacity for a long time. And if a team does manage to survive and prosper in the Premiership it would be really interesting to hear the case that is presented to throw them out on capacity grounds if they have achieved a couple of years of mid table on the playing field.

Monday Evening was on break in my car when this was on local radio.

About 20 minutes in.
Interview with Bedford Tigers Rugby League.
They are hoping to apply to join Rugby League, League One. (Third tier, professional game).

Initially for capacity Bedford Blues Goldington Road is being pursued.
So if as is rumoured.
Blues Men. 13 League games and (cup games?)
Tigers Men 11 League games, plus cup
So including friendlies circa 30 matches.one a week.

Is that enough to inspire a push for better facilities? Include Blues (and Tigers) Women using Bedford Athletics all weather pitch, but occasional Blues Women at Goldington Road.

Rob Ashton acknowledges Bedford is a rugby town. Blues are in a relatively unique situation, the best followed sports club in the town. Walking distance to the town centre and drinking stops.

The Elephant in the room.

Bedford football scene is in an interesting phase. As I mentioned lots of press about Real Bedford a non league club. The Men were promoted to the 8th tier of English Football, the Women to tier 4 (it is interesting next year three names stood out, Cambridge United a derby of sorts, Norwich and QPR women’s clubs associated with well known football names.)

However Real recognise they need a better venue especially if they even play Men’s tier 5. Listening to the a radio interview, with Tigers (RL) and Real (football) both having partnerships with local Netball clubs. Listening between the lines, if Tigers bring professional Rugby League to Bedford and Goldington Road, not sure what would stop them in say 5 years joining Real Bedford in a shiny new home.

So for Blues, maybe it is not so much looking for promotion. But knowing the next level is 7,500 (10,000 after 4 years, if survived that long), should be a target, hopefully achieve able at Goldington Road. To,at least stay at the  top of the local sports scene, and maintain Bedford as a ‘rugby’ town.

Sorry if I digressed. But if you are outside Bedford a lot of the above would pass you by.

Now if only Universal theme park confirms it is happening in July, will Blues want to play at Universal Studios Stadium Bedford?

The older I get, the more the RFU leave me confused.

From experience, I'm not sure RL is ever going to be a big enough draw south of Yorkshire to make a difference.
I have been to Bedford vs Cov Bears RL matches in the past where the away support outnumbered home, and Bears couldn't draw enough at home to make either Coundon Road or BPA viable (despite winning Nat One 20 years ago, plus several Conference championships).
They now play at Old Coventrians again. (Yes, the very 'franchisey' Midlands Hurricanes have now moved into the Birmingam Alex Stadium, but even here draw paltry crowds in a city of over a million souls).
The BPA persists with hosting Cov United and CU Ladies, plus a gridiron side, but I really can't see any of these making much of a contribution, cash-wise to CRFC coffers.
Better, I think, to look slightly further than sport for help.

For example, just in the last few weeks you have had Take That performing at Stadium MK and Taylor Swift at Murrayfield - both packed out and generating huge amounts of capital, of which MK Dons and Scottish Rugby respectively would have benfitted from a great deal. Two different stadiums built for two different sports, but both supporting their clubs/owners during the off season, it's win win.

I do feel that rugby clubs/grounds could benefit from some diversification, especially at this juncture in the Championship/professional rugby landcape. Fortune favours the brave.
While this is true, the stadium needs a capacity that makes it a viable option for concert promoters.  Most outdoor shows are in football grounds with a capacity of at least 40k - the equivalent of two nights at the O2 or Co-op Live.  A few years ago there were a handful of shows at the Stoop, Kingsholm, Franklin's Gardens, but generally if you're looking at a 10k capacity venue (which the Champ clubs must aspire to) then most bands would look at arenas rather than outdoor shows because the English summers are so unreliable.  And there is an arena within an hour's drive of the majority of Championship clubs - even the Eden Project has hosted The Who, Pet Shop Boys, Kasabian, Noel Gallagher, My Chemical Romance, Nine Inch Nails, Stereophonics and Diana Ross in the last couple of years.

True.
The BPA has hosted quite a few lesser/fading (and I don't mean that in a derogatory sense) over the years: e.g. UB40, Steps, Blue, Raging Fyah, Pretenders, Simple Minds, Level 42, KT Tunstall, but the close proximity of the Cov Building Society Arena and the NEC etc mean that there's no chance of the current bigger guns appearing.

I really don't see what that has to do with anything. You asked when Truro FC would return to Cornwall and were given an answer.
