Wevans, everything I have heard from the RFU refutes that. In January they clearly said that applications to Tier 2 could come from anywhere, including Universities, however, they made it clear that the failed Clubs would have to clear their rugby creditors, demonstrate working capital and have a ground meeting the Tier 2 requirements. None of them are anywhere near that, as far as I an aware.

And yet just over a year ago the RFU offered Wasps with no ground and no players a place in the Championship.

Sorry Halliford my view remains unchanged.

I am in complete agreement with you WEvans, paying off rugby creditors is one thing but what about all the other creditors, the supplier of pies and other catering servives, the cleaners, the tradesmen working on infrastructure, the local printer, the company that hosted and maintained the website, the security guards...........

Even if everyone was paid in full, London Irish, Wasps, Worcester and Jersey should still start at the bottom of the pyramid because Richmond, London Welsh and a fair few other clubs all had to

Exactly. Start at the bottom, or reinvest in the amateur arm clubs they have in the system already. London Irish Amateur, Wasps FC and Worcester RFC (not including Jersey RFC as they said they'd never go pro again) are available, if only the former fans of the sadly liquidated pro clubs at large actually knew that.

It is an interesting comment from a supporter of Cornish Pirates, that should they win the league they will be able to recruit a full squad without the support of Exeter and have a ground that would meet the Prem initial criteria and have plans to increase the ground to 10k within 4 years.
I believe that Dicky Evans funding runs out in December and they have yet to replace him. There is still no agreement on future funding for the Championship or the Parachute payment that a relegated club from the prem will receive or the funding that a promoted Championship would get to achieve parity with current Prem clubs.
This is the real issues that need to be resolved.

A mention on the latest developments at the end of last week in The Ruck, which is the Times weekly podcast...

If you don't want to listen to the whole thing, the Champ section is roughly 20-28 minutes.

Where is this post?

I read it as a reference to your post.

Did you mean Cornish achieved 2nd place without help from Exeter?

Your comment reads that way.

Where have I said that we did not use D/Rs last season?
Where did I say our ground meets the Prem criteria? It doesn’t.
Where did I say anything about expanding ground capacity to 10k ? I don’t think that is physically possible.

It would not be possible to expand The Mennaye to 10,000. Possibly 5,000 might be achievable.
If promoted we would eventually have to move and we all know how difficult that would be!

1st lesson of Rolling Maul - when someone makes a questionable/contentious point which others then query, best to leave the original poster to explain themselves, rather than attempt to help out... Embarrassed

I know Prates are no longer involved, and it is the wrong game.
But will Truro ever be able to come back to Cornwall?
If so, how big a stadium will they build?

Camquin if you are talking about football then it seems a stadium is almost complete and Truro City FC hope to be playing their next season.

A stadium, suitable for the current level of the club, but not a solution for Pirates - even with the reduced requirements - as the planning is only for 4,000 capacity - and it only has 300 seats.
