Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond has left the Premiership club after 10 years in charge.

Diamond, 52, who made 290 appearances for Sale as a player, rejoined the club in January 2011 and has also had spells as the club's chief executive.

He leaves the Sharks just three matches into the 2020-21 Premiership season, the team having won two of those games.

Anybody know why?

Lets face it, if he wasn't a major shareholder , he'd of been potted a long time ago.
He might be planning on replacing himself with a south african?

someone must, but a quick trawl of Twitter, Daily Telegraph & Sharks' VF22 forum didn't elicit anything concrete, just speculation...

From the The Times today ...

"The surprise move comes only four weeks after a new chief executive, Sid Sutton, had been appointed. That followed Diamond temporarily taking on a wider role in the club’s off-field matters, with the stated aim that he would be able to devote more energy to his coaching role."

It does seem Steve Diamond's family has had all the bad luck - so you can see why he may feel the need to spend time with them.
