Exeter won both matches 45-19 win over Scottish 46-24 victory against the Pirates. In a similar manner Ospreys are playing Swansea, Neath and Aberavon in 3 30 minute matches.

Strong looking Tigers squad for the game with Nottingham, be nice to see how the two Lions players show at this level.

FT Ealing 45 - Cardiff Rugby 31 - Ealing turned it on in the last 20 to score 4 unanswered tries and take the win against a so-so Cardiff side.

Ealing played the United Rugby Championship club which must be the level below the 4 regions Cambridge played the Super Rygbi Cymru side (L14-12) which must be the level down (Salary cap £150,000)

Cardiff Rugby are part of the URC - the top level for Welsh, Scottish and Irish, SA, Italian clubs (Leinster, Munster, Edinburgh etc), so loosely the equivalent of an English prem club so that's a decent result for Ealing for their first pre season match.
Cardiff RFC, who Cambridge lost to today, are a Welsh Prem side - loosely equivalent to a top end Nat 1 side and in the same league as Aberavon (who I think Cambridge play next), and is the side that Rams beat a couple of weeks ago.

That's correct. Cardiff rugby didn't put out their A team but nonetheless a good hit out for Ealing.

Hartpury apparently beat Dragons away 42-40. An impressive feat.

Cardiff Rugby is the first XV who play in URC.
Cardiff RFC are the second XV who play in Super Rygbi Cymru. A new competition. The RFC are generally a mix of academy players and part time players. The firsts played a typical preseason mix and match XV. So (roughly) Ealing beat the reserves and Cambridge lost to the academy. Neither team has played Rams to my knowledge so not sure who you mean? Edit: Ah misread, you meant they played Aberavon. Edited by Explainer - 03 Sep 2024 at 14:02 |
