Other reports show that RFU still entertaining the return of the 4 clubs, Wasps, London Irish, Worcester and Jersey being fast tracked into the championship. Interesting to see the responses from "Aspirational" Nat 1 clubs and presumably those championship clubs who will not reach Prem 2 criteria " Relegation"??
to fit them into Prem 2.

Fascinating WB, are you able to direct us more precisely to these 'other reports'?! Personally I don't see how Jersey Reds would slot back in anywhere - there has been no such entity since the cessation of trading last September and subsequent winding up. Jersey RFC is a separate & entirely amateur club, doing well after the turmoil faced by the 'tenants' a year ago & about to embark on a 1st season at level 5.

I did see the Times report yesterday about Wasps still targeting Kent, albeit conceding that the proposed new ground near Sevenoaks was a long way off and with the idea of ground sharing with Charlton Athletic FC. The article I'm talking about didn't give any clues about how Wasps would be brought back into the league structure, and didn't mention any other clubs...

There have been many reports suggesting the Championship (Prem 2?) will be expanded to fourteen teams from 25/26 and the additional teams will be one from the NL and one other. My opinion is that they will bend over backwards to get Wasps in no matter what.

Have heard some mention of Worcester eventually being resurrected and put in Prem 2 in the future but that seems to be largely driven by the fact the ground still exists. There was some talk of a proposed American buyer for London Irish a while ago along with reports he had big ambitions but little money which admittedly hasn't stopped buyers in the past (takes up back to Worcester doesn't it?) but that seems to have died a death. As for Jersey Reds they seem to have as much chance of a comeback as Eddie Jones does of coming back as England coach.

Seems to me that Jersey, like London Welsh are following the most sensible course. Rebuild on your amateur team and see what happens.
As to Will o'the Wisps, I think L Welsh & Scottish are better known than Wasps and would have a wider local and national supporter base.

But who are we to undermine Sweeney plans. He's coming to Cambridge on 5 October (Coventry match) for a meal with his hatchet man O'Shea and a Q&A - should be fun. Angry

There was the German who wanted to buy Reading FC and Irish.
But that seems to have gone quiet.
He had family money, but a bad reputation from earlier dealing with a German ladies side.
I note that the two other directors of his company have recently resigned - leaving him as a sole director.

Reading are now negotiating with someone else.

And Wasps already have such an amateur team in the leagues already with Wasps FC.  Of course, the Jersey and London Welsh amateur teams are in the same league this season so it will be interesting to see what happens there.

Hadn't realised Wasps Amateurs were there. It seems so sensible to take a breath and rebuild slowly but there'll always be those who want to jump into the head of the queue no matter whose toes you tread on.

Rugby with integrity would be my bet!

Word hot off the press and on the street in Saf East Ldn  is Wasps have agreed a deal with Charlton FC to use the Valley next season and be entered into Premier II ... They will use Charlton Park  RFC as a training ground and play home matches at the Valley when Charlton are not using it  ... They have already had this as good as rubber stamped Im told by the RFU .....no smoke without fire as they say and groundsman tend to know what they are talking about!!!!

Yes I saw an article about how things seem to have been quietly moving along with Wasps more than I and others had realised.

This part caught my eye:

It has already been agreed that the second tier will be expanded to 14 clubs next year. The roadmap for the club’s return will be laid out by the new Tier Two Board once it is up and running, having been given authority by the RFU council.
Research commissioned by Premiership Rugby and shared with Wasps demonstrated that Kent was the best location in England for a new professional rugby club.”

With a sizeable ground share now sorted, I do still wonder where their actual squad, coaches and backroom staff will be coming from, on full-time professional contracts of course. I hope there won't be too much poaching from other clubs going on.

Good luck creating a club on £130K. Also, I wonder if the amateur club have any say, as it is their name.

I'm interested in what kind of club they can build for £150k.

If they don’t “poach from other clubs”, how will they recruit any players? This whole saga is a complete disgrace.
