I was bout 5 yards away from this incident, and said at the time he would get cited.

Shame that wasn’t the case at Doncaster- might have been a supposed Premiership ref but ‘missed’ (read ignored) some absolutely blatant incidents.!!

So where were the officials when this incident took place? Sadly, I wasn't able to make the game, but followed it closely on Twitter and from what I could see they were very hot on pinging Jersey at the breakdown and I think that we may have got a card for it?? If this incident took place following a break and clear sight of the incident wasn't possible, then so be it, if not then it should have been picked up and dealt with (presumably with a YC) and in such a tight game could have made the difference. |

The officials were on the other side of the ruck and missed the Reds/Pirates incident - that happens.
The Jersey YC a few minutes later (the other side of HT) was for a high tackle, bit clumsy but don't think anyone was complaining about the decision. The full judgements in these cases are usually published a week or two afterwards on the RFU site so this one should be available for all to read in due course. They used to have video attachments, but I'm not sure that feature is still made available.

The ref was behind him as he entered the banana and didn't see the clear shoulder head contact, and the Touch Judge was obscured by a winger and a pile of forwards. Cannot complain about them missing it, they just weren't able to see it.

John got a four week ban, not the full six, because of his exemplary disciplinary record. A very hard, committed player, but not a dirty player. No contact with head or neck and the Jersey player is OK. It's rugby, these things will happen.

Yeah, like I said. they didn't see the clear head shoulder contact at the time. It was not their fault, they were impeded by others. |
