So it appears Sale Sharks are planning a move. New "sports village" including new stadium actually in Sale. I believe it's the current site of Sale Harriers athletics club that's being discussed, wouldn't think Harriers will be too happy, as I can't see a stadium with a running track happening. Huge investment tho.

The site is actually smaller than the AJ Bell, SS are making all kinds of grand plans but seeing as the current occupants, Old Alts FC, Sale United FC and the aforementioned Sale Harriers AC were "blind-sided by the SS announcement this could be a long story.

Salford Council own and run AJ Bell, its running at a loss but the council have refused to sell the ground to SS on more than one occasion. SS want it so that they can cream more cash from Hospitality and other events. It does seem churlish of Salford Council not to sell and frankly this may be  move to get them back to the table to make a deal.

If Crossford Bridge goes ahead it will end up with two very similar stadiums about 4 miles apart both probably making a loss. Madness.

AJ Bell was originally built for Salford RLFC, maybe they should purchase it.  Anyway, Sale Sharks should really be playing in Trafford borough somewhere, shouldn't they?

Salford RLFC aren't going to want to run the risk of potentially getting kicked out of their home ground. They saw what Wasps did to Coventry City FC and I suspect the council are going to back up the club they originally got it for for civic reasons.

So I guess Wasps should be playing in Sudbury  and Irish in Sunbury then? AJ Bell is the width of the ship canal from Trafford.

Salford RLFC can't afford to pay their staff, and a good percentage of their dwindling support hate the AJ Bell so unless Salford City Council find a magic money tree the site will continue to lose money.

Its probably a political thing with some pride thrown in but the only deal on the table which allowed the Council a bit of face saving has been turned down. SS "plans" for Crossford Bridge are years away from fruition and has too many obstacles to overcome.

Don't the Harriers use the track at Sport City for their major track events?

The Manchester area seems awash with grounds but sono one seems to want to share.

As for the new ground, can't see it getting off the ground within the next five years as a minimum if ever. The cynic in me would suggest it is a bargaining chip over the AJB, a venue which would benefit from investment from anyone who has any money to spare post virus.
