I thought their defence was excellent,we had more ball but they took their chances and based on first half deserved the win.

Thanks, probably the best defensive shift we've put in since arriving at Nat 2 South 5 seasons ago .... not sure we can keep that intensity up for another 28 games with the same players, so we'll find out how good our strength in depth is ...

Thanks for the compliments, for someone whose refereeing career in the higher echelons started with Moseley United v Bristol United with Derek Nutt as a skipper to contend with back in 1989, to fast forward 30 years and see my team beat the legendary Moseley was quite something!
Yes, we have run out of gas in the first two games after 60/65 minutes but the boys are adjusting to the speed of play as quick as they can and I would say the game on the weekend was 25% tougher than anything faced in the last 4 years ...
Defence does win games and we've spent hours on fine tuning our system, so every player should know exactly what they're doing, I suppose we would say, if your attack is better than our defence, you'll win and if it's not, we'll pick off your mistakes and beat you but I would concede, we were hanging on by our finger nails at the end ...
We'll certainly look at your next couple of games with interest to see maybe just where we are going forward ...

Was he a model skipper back in 1989 Sir? ...I'm sure he was.....

Please give him my best wishes and tell him that RAMS water carrier/tee carrier, was a very old Ashley Rowden .... he was a very good skipper and club man and I did occasionally referee Moseley when they were at Level 2, when he was still on "the committee" ...... I probably one of the few officials still around in rugby, who refereed them when they moved to Birmingham University .....
