Another massive effort from The Pirates. Several key players injured and guys brought in to fill the gaps have slotted in brilliantly. Very close at the end, but another classic between these two teams.

Absolutely cracking game at Ampthill. Very nervy until the last second but it was worrying the amount of nasty injuries we picked up.
However on a nicer note- everyone I met there was incredibly helpful and very nice (I’m on crutches and I turned up after a morning perusing the shops in Milton Keynes so I had a full backpack and several carrier bags)

A very strange 1st half performance from Bedford, absolutely flat, no pep, no noise, no energy, fair play to CP who took their chances and deserved the win.

I want you all to line up in a circle and pair up in three's alphabetically by height.

To be fair to Bedford, The Pirates have been very solid defensively all season and it's very difficult to score against them. Listening on the radio it sounded like Pirates had the upper hand at scrum time, which is always pretty crucial. When Bedford beat us at The Mennaye earlier this season, they outgunned us up front, but we have improved a lot since then. The slope, as usual, played its part and Bedford came very close to overturning the deficit near the end. Fine margins decide so many of these games.

With 6N on Friday and yesterday, there's almost a complete absence of rugby on today - only 1 Allianz Women's game at 3pm + a French Top 14 game at 8. Seems like the ideal opportunity to get a Champ game on, with TV or streaming; but no, they were all scheduled for yesterday...
Credit where it's due however: a decent highlights package on social media today - LINK Edited by islander - 04 Feb 2024 at 14:15 |

I watched the Lions game that Plymouth Albion streamed live on you tube, it was a bit dodgy recording at times, but the match was better than the Italy v England game for quality flowing rugby.

The one scrum Bedford did get the upper hand, on the Pirates line was given as a CP pen. Had to guess why as with all the game absolutely no signals from Mr Jackson. Not Bedfords favourite official
