I must be careful I do not sound smug ! Notably after my positing earlier in the week re this thread.
I think though I, with others, am entitled to say how proud I was of that performance today. The young squad CAME OF AGE.
Regarding Will Butt's four tries, it equaled the Club record for the number scored in a single league game, with Will joining Andy Smallwood from 1997/98 & James Stokes 2019/20.
Onwards to Saracens with circa 1,400 being allowed in to the BPA

No where near as bad as:

You're right CC, the above game in Apr 2016 was pretty grim, made worse by being the last game of the season and leaving a sour memory all summer, especially for those who were retiring/leaving (inc Alex Rae and the ref, Andrew Small). At least Cov played really well today. Since 04/16, since we're wallowing in our 'favourite' grim home performances Ouch, I'd put forward those below.

Thanks for reminding me of those horrors mate - I had to leave the pre-Christmas match against Scottish early to catch a flight and I remember being absolutely soaked that day. The Leeds match is still my ultimate horror as Jersey were "Nilled" that day and early in the second half against Cov yesterday I was very much relieved when they took three points on offer to get the Nil off the board. The players who miss-fired yesterday were largely the same as the team who played so well against Amps the week before and they are proud lads who will bounce back. Cov were excellent and the outside centre will never get an easier bonus point and should thank his inside midfield and back row who were the real stars on the day.
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

If we are going down that path and going back a bit further, surely we can't beat:

Dec 2013

Bedfords rolling maul against Ealing was very well executed and scored by the 7 who celebrated by rocking the ball in his arms ! . Apparently he had recently become a father.

Ah, that explains it. Thanks for the clarification.

I always find something to enjoy in my rugby trips to Jersey, and so was very disappointed that domestic and logistic issues kept me away yesterday. I've been lucky this season that I've been an 'amber zone' photographer for Coventry, so have seen all the live rugby there has been until now, but this has also meant that since the season proper has started, and matches have not been available on catch-up I've not been able to watch streaming until yesterday.

So a very big thank-you to Tim Pryor and Harry Cochrane for providing such a major contribution to yesterday's game with their enthusiasm and balance in their commentary yesterday. Their approach added an awful lot to what was (as a Coventry supporter) a pretty joyous day in this largely meaningless season, and has been echoed by the comments here on Rolling Maul.

I should add that I did not expect the result, and wasn't even confident at half time. I'm not expecting anything next week, but it will be wonderful to have a crowd, even if only 1/3 of what normally would have been, and who knows, bigger surprises have happened.

Good luck Old Nick, you are quite right, you never know your luck at a party.
Cov were superb yesterday, especially in the 2nd half. Despite the scoreline, I thought that the 1st half was pretty even and The Reds really should have scored when camped on the Coventry line. But your defense was simply brilliant all day. Very well organized and strong.
Already looking forward to next season when we can share a pint with the traveling faithful

Will be interesting to see if the late charge, not a tackle, on The Blues scrum half by the  Sarries forward is dealt with. While I think some cards have been a bit on the unwarranted side this season, this certainly deserves one. (In my opinion)

Do you mean the Ealing player no arms shoulder on Worley (winger), when it was shown as a highlight in the game? Ealing then went on to score from that passage of play.

I think it was an in game yellow card but nothing else like an after game sanction.

Probably the least convincing 40-17 match I've seen. Ealing looked much better to me when Casson, Davis, Murphy, Thompson, and Burns came on.

Hampson probably had his worst game of the season in my mind, as he was glacially slow at the breakdown, which stopped Ealing from generating front foot ball, and led to a couple of turnovers/penalties. I've noticed that tendency with him before when he pairs with Shingler, I think that Willis goads him into playing faster.

I've got a ticket to a Q&A session with Ben Ward and Rayn Smid on Wednesday, and I think that I'm going to ask about the chippiness. Maybe they are trying to be like Saracens, but I don't care for it.

I agree that it was our least convincing win. We still managed to stop a Bedford four try bonus point and even playing so under par were able to score 40 points.

I think it was evident why Craig Willis gets the number 10 spot over Shingler . I  have never see so many post by the losing team slating the winning team ! and most of the critism perfectly correct. Imagine if Ealing had fired on all cylinders I dread to think what the winning margin may have been.
I agree about the whooping and jeering , there is no place for it in Rugby. Saracens were the instigators and the trade mark of the Wolfpack. I have seen it appear in youth rugby and have requested coaches at Ealing to stamp it out.
I to am will be at the Q&A with Rayn Smid and Ben Ward......any questions request ?.LOLLOL

One important point for me is that Ealing was rotating a number of first choice players such as Elliot Millar-Mills and Craig Willis. I wasn't sure if they were injured, but according to Ben Ward, he was rotating on purpose.
