Week One 1st / 2nd November
There are some tasty fixtures coming up - issues include DR (regrettably) but main interest, for me, is Caldy at home to Newcastle. Caldy are quite capable of turning over higher clubs but then Newcastle went and beat Exeter. Caldy's performance will be interesting, notwithstanding their bottom position especially after their decent showing against Coventry. Saints fixture also looks tasty - but it's Premiership clubs so doesn't count ) Pirates v Exeter (possible DR issues??) Doncaster v Sale (testing for Doncaster) Northampton v Leicester (home win) Nottingham v Coventry (Cov looking to make a point) Ampthill v Bath (good gate £ for Amps as Bedford are far away) Caldy v Newcastle Falcons (chance for Caldy) London Scottish v Harlequins (possible DR issues) Hartpury RFC v Gloucester (possible DR issues) Bristol v Bedford Blues (tough nut for Blues to crack) Ealing Trailfinders v Saracens (Ealing have point to make) |

The Pirates v Exeter game is sold out! A good result for the club whatever happens on the field.

From a Chinnor point of view, waiting to hear how much compensation Chinnor and Cambridge will received for their loss of income after being shafted........... Shame on all the Championship clubs for gleefully taking the money..........

I feel your pain and think it's a disgrace the way Chinnor and Cambridge were treated. But this is the reality of where we are.

Looking at the fixtures above it's going to be an extraordinary day at the tills for a few Championship clubs. Not sure what parking Ampthill have in place. Edited by FHLH - 31 Oct 2024 at 04:15 |

Can't remember the number(s), but there was a perfectly decent bus service from Flitwick Station, and I believe Bedford too, for those prepared to devise their own park 'n' ride options, or indeed to train the whole way (2' 56" from Bath Spa according to Trainline)

Of these two teams, 11 from both sides have played for Leicester Lions in past couple of years(one when they were in Nat 2). Nice to see Nat 1 is involved in the players development, sure some other clubs will have also had some of these young players turn out for them. Four of the Tigers squad have played in Nat 1 this season and one of the Saints players played for Lions last week, will be a big step up for him.

I remember when Will Wand was playing for Cambridge Exiles before he cemented a fist team shirt. Tom Whiteley had a couple of games with us. Archie Vanes had five.

Chiefs vs. Pirates is a sellout. So that is 3000 tickets and hospitality for Prem cup vs. Probably 500 for a champ cup fixture. If I estimate £25 per head on average (ticket, bar takings), then that is am extra £62.5k of revenue for Pirates that has cost the RFU and PRL nothing. I approve.

Alas Scots don't have full use of the RAG (being tenants) but should be a decent enough crowd to bring in some income.
Richmond have opened up a 'pre match hospitality venture' for England matches, which is a good move for them and should generate some ££ (I just hope our London Scottish Piper doesn't drown out any speakers or cause too much of a distraction for those attending on Saturday ) |

these calculations are interesting Gerg, & could prove useful for Cambridge & Chinnor in pursuing their claims for compensation...

They are probably a bit conservative to be honest, but I didn't want to get into too much detail today as I am legally non compos mentis for the next 12 hours due to surgery.

Ealing Trailfinders to face Saracens: Strong side, probably the best Ealing can put out, though I was hopeful we might see Simon Uzokwe and Bobby DeWee after they played in the friendly last week as part of recovery
